+Jamie Z Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 Check out the GPS I saw on the Degree confluence page. GPS? Phone? At this confluence: 61°N 26°E The visitor to this confluence seems to have the same unit. Also... this unit sure looks a lot like a Magellan to me. Anyone have one of these? JDMC Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 In reference to the photo of a cell phone/GPS named Benefon, I found this Web page: http://www.benefon.com/products/index.htm Quote
+apersson850 Posted October 13, 2002 Posted October 13, 2002 A friend of mine has the Benefon Esc combined GSM phone and GPS navigator. Garmin is also about to release a GPS/GSM/PDA combination. Anders Quote

NeilG Posted October 17, 2002 Posted October 17, 2002 The benfon looks really good, but about 800€ here in Germany. I looked to see if it would be cheaper with an air time contract but had no luck. The Ashtech in the other picture is a Magellan, or at least, it is a Thales navigation product. http://www.ashtech.com/en/about/ (I dont have one though) NG. Quote
+Jamie Z Posted October 18, 2002 Author Posted October 18, 2002 Another foreign (to me) GPS. Jamie Quote
+hbrx Posted October 21, 2002 Posted October 21, 2002 Jamie, you have spotted a multi-navigator from Swedish instrument and compassmakers Silva. Here in Scandinavia a compass is about equivalent to a Silva... hbrx. (In Norway with caches already buried in snow) Quote
peter Posted October 21, 2002 Posted October 21, 2002 In the US the Multi Navigator GPS is sold under the Brunton trademark. REI has carried them in the past - don't know if they still do. It looked relatively big and expensive and lacked a map page. Quote
+Jamie Z Posted December 18, 2002 Author Posted December 18, 2002 Here's another funky foreign (to me) GPS. This one out of Brazil. Jamie Quote
+Jamie Z Posted May 9, 2003 Author Posted May 9, 2003 I've found even another wacko GPS unit. This one looks like a big Gecko. What kind is this? Jamie Quote

+Jamie Z Posted September 5, 2003 Author Posted September 5, 2003 Digging up this several-month old thread cuz I found another odd one: GPSmart? Jamie Quote
+The Wombles Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 Yep, got one. The GPSmart has a pretty good antenna (roughly the same as my Sportrak), the unique advantage of both Bluetooth and a screen (other bluetooth units, so far, don't have a screen), and an easy user interface similar to my eMap. Downside: it uses AAA batteries (quickly). Overall it is useful for combining with an iPaq for voice guidance and then as a handheld unit to go find the cache. Dave Quote
