WHAT IRKS ME - MISUSE OF OWNER MAINTENANCE LOG

The Owner Maintenance log is supposed to be used when the CO has performed some sort of maintenance, not just thinking about it.  "I will get out there this week" is properly a WRITE NOTE not an OWNER MAINTENANCE.

How are they supposed to know that?

 

"MAINTENANCE DONE" as the log type should fix it.  One simple word, remove a redundant one...

That could be read (if light grey on white can be read at all) to include future maintenance. 

 

I plan maintenance; this log type is about maintenance.

Otherwise it could be "Someone has found it, all OK" Or "A friend passing by has looked at the cache"

One thing I've noticed is that, on a basic account using the geocaching app on Android, there is no Write Note log type on owned caches. The only log types available are Owner Maintenance, Disable and Archive.

Nothing will fix it as long as COs know that posting Maintenance resets the flag and inhibits the reviewers from setting deadlines.

Just make a text block above the entry block! Solid black text that shows above where you enter the log text. It can be hidden if desired after a certain threshold. Visual design. I know I rarely every read more than a word or 2 of input-box preview text if I'm about to type over it.

Survey: How many novice users have actually read the "Describe the..." preview text on that input box?
