+kwvers!
Introducing the Yrium TNG #13 Card - Geo Ocotillio Campout: A decent supply (with the inevitable misprints) has been dropped in Max's Favorite Park. Also, some very unique misprints (all different cards) seem to have made their way into Pink Panther. Attaboy Tom, drop an Yrium-card on Sunday ... that should trigger a mad dash to Max's Favorite Park. I can see it now, BoysnBarrie rushing there after church services wearing her finest Sunday-go-to-meeting high-heels and cha-cha dress. One thing missing at Max's Favorite Park is an online Webcam. There's a misprint in this set that seems an appropriate finale to this year of zany San Diego Geocaching. Pretty much it reveals what sort of minds are drawn to Geocaching. Don't miss this misprint ... y'all will understand when y' see it. It has been a great year for the Yrium cards, thanks ever-so much to FlagMan's devotion and dedication. For my part it is an honor to help keep Yrium's memory with us. We are continually amazed at how both of you find the time and artistic fervor to complete these cards, such effort would gobble up almost all available caching time for normal folks. This is another great effort and so uniquely part of the San Diego community, thanks for all the hard work. Hey everybody, look ... artistic fervor. Does this mean that I've finally hit the big-time with my pal FlagMan? To be honest it isn't work nor is it hard ... once your fingers learn all about Photoshop then the rest is easy. Well, almost easy, the actual hard part is discovering an appropriate concept for each Yrium-card. You da man, Harmon!! You da man, Tom!!! I actually drove to get my cards today...They look real nice! Quote Link to comment

[] Hold on here ... let's get back to the high heels and the cha-cha dress issue. It was a year ago just before Christmas while I was walking through a shopping mall and caught sight of a woman that was pushing a baby stroller and wearing a simple but attractive black dress. Not a skirt, ... an actual dress. I stopped in my tracks as she passed by, astonished ... at first I thought that I was having a hallucination. Could it be, a woman wearing a dress rather than jeans and tee? I sat down on a nearby bench and searched my memories, when last had I seen a woman wearing a dress? This layout brought the situation that I always feared ... very few photographs of the honoree, only one in fact. Fortunately Tom had a concept ready and waiting and from that point on I was off and running with designs for Tom's consideration and approval. Kind of fun producing a layout from bits and pieces. Dreaming up a concept for the misprint was especially enjoyable ... having to imagine what graphical feature might clearly encapsulate the very idea of a "lost guy?" As always, Tom, thanks for asking, Harmon Well, it was about time for me to hit the sack when all of a sudden I needed to change into my Yrium Hunt Attire because LostGuy had finally been honored on a Yrium card . Yep, so I had to hightail it up there, and my friend TheIronMom offered to drive (since I was half asleep already). My oh my ... I had no idea how fast those Tundra trucks can go! It seemed like we arrived at Max's in under 10 mins . Now I'm safely home, and ready for bed ... but I wanted to mention real quick what a wonderful job Tom and Harmon have done, yet again. Impressive, to say the least. The misprint really made me smile. Bravo! Barrie aka: boysnbarrie Quote Link to comment
+TheIronMom
I kept hearing Barrie's phone 'ping...ping.' Somethings up, I hear beeping. "Not here, it can't be me," she said. After realizing she got a notification...Yup, we headed to Max's at warp speed. It's not very often I have the opportunity to head this far north from the South Bay area. TheHikingMonk gave me the night off and offered to feed the kids and get them to bed on time...he practically kicked me outta the house. I decided to go out with Barrie and we ended up here. I took two sets of cards: one for myself and one for hubby. (Thanks for the night off hon!) Yea, Barrie out dressed me. My stealth attire will never compare to her spandex, heels, and a psychedelic cha-cha dress. Awesome cards; great layout. Thanks Edited March 18, 2010 by TheIronMom Quote Link to comment

Once in a while I find a use for one or more of the leftover images. In this case it was another version of the single image I found of "lostguy". In this version notice that his head and hair is stretched as if speeding downhill on his bicycle. Rather than being used for the released card it wound up as a sort of Santee Rushmore on a different Forum thread. Waste not, want not. Quote Link to comment
+The Lost Clan
I couldn't make it out to Max's last night, so I zipped over there this morning to grab some of the new Yrium cards. I took 4 of the regulars and the last 3 misprints. The extras are for zeber, Silver Horde and SuperDave! There are still lots of #14 left. Great job on the artwork, Harmon! Quote Link to comment
+map4navigation
I picked up 3 today! No misprints. I will keep 1 and place the other 2 in caches! Very nice job! Glad to see DHD honored! Quote Link to comment
+"lostguy"
Introducing Yrium TNG #14 - "lostguy" Thanks for Ragfoot for the subject selection and Harmon, of course, for the awesome design!! A few copies can be found in the usual spot, Max's Favorite Park. PLEASE DON'T HOARD THEM!! There were a ton of folks that were more worthy than I for a Yrium card but I thank Ragfoot for the nomination and to Flagman and Harmon for their usual stellar work. I'll have to see if I can get a hold of one of them cards. Quote Link to comment
+TheIronMom
TheHikingMonk declined his set since I already have one. He generously donated one #14 to the first person to visit IHO: TheHikingMonk...Say Cheese. We gave that away to a new cacher today. We still have a misprint left. Anyone want to visit GC1KQ8T (that hasn't already signed the log)? It's yours. Edited March 19, 2010 by TheIronMom Quote Link to comment

We stopped by this morning and grabbed 4 #14's, no misprints when we were there either. We took one for Kwvers!, The Fat Cats, and one for $kimmer and Vulture. They will get them tomorrow when we start our big adventure. Great choice and the usual outstanding design and production work ~ Impressive!! Splashette Quote Link to comment

+jahoadi and john
Dropped a "Lostguy" and a "Lostguy51" in Sit Awhile. I also placed a traveling cache in there...only a few of those around so that is a treat. Quote Link to comment
+FlagMan
Introducing the Yrium TNG #15 Card - Thunder-4: Thanks to devhead for the choice of victim and for Harmon for the design work!! A decent supply has been left in Max's Favorite Park. Please don't hoard them -- just take one or two cards, total, per visit... While I was there I noticed that the inevitable Misprinter had already beaten me to the cache, and there were a few ghastly caricatures in there as well. I went ahead and scanned them to show you all how insane this miscreant really is!!! Quote Link to comment

This was an unusually enjoyable effort. Working with Tom is always a pleasure and in this case working with Steve was unusually satisfying in that he offered a clear concept to work from and some good links to related photo galleries. Rooting through something like a hundred source photos and spending considerable time roaming the Internet for source material makes for a considerable but, as usual, an enjoyable task. Besides, this assignment gave me a chance to rev'-up my brand new Photoshop CS5 package. Truth is, how could we miss what with Randy having such a good back-story? Hope the designs covered everything, lemme see, Randy, dawg Thunder, motorcycle, Mt. Whitney, Highway 4, kidney replacement, our hope for Randy's continued health and, by the way, that sky on the formal- release card was taken from a shot of the Sycamore Canyon Hall of Fame area. Beyond that, this is a first ... first time ever that misprint cards have been revealed on the Forum thread. Got t' do a recount, I'm pretty sure that there's now 118 Yrium cards in my collection. I feel lucky, Harmon SD Rowdies Edited June 4, 2010 by SD Rowdies Quote Link to comment
+Let's Look Over Thayer
Just take one or two cards, total, per visit... Had to make two trips to get all three cards but it was worth it... The Misprinter outdid himself (herself?) with the Operation card. That will be a classic to stand alongside the infamous Wonderwoman misprint! Quote Link to comment

+TheIronMom
I just ran up there with SNF, MM, MD, TI, TSP, SB, and Baby Monk. We picked up one set of three for our family collection. We dropped off a couple Ginger and LLOT cards. OOOOHH MAN....~! I saw a glimpse of red glittery high heels as Barrie slammed her car door and screeched out of the parking lot to maintain her stealth. How she got that fruit hat to fit in the car, I'll never know. Hmmm, thinking to self...if she was on a break from driving those munchkins to school, is the cha-cha dress her uniform? Hmmm.... That IronMom gal RAN all the way up to Max's? Impressive! Yes, it's true ... I was there this morning. Between writing my first novel, driving the yellow limo, taking care of my house, and other duties I'll dare not mention here ... somehow I managed to get my cha cha dress out of the dry cleaners just in time for the newest Yrium release. What a fine set of cards it is, too! I'm just not exactly sure how you can be certain (beyond a reasonable doubt!) it was ME in the red high heels ... but that's ok. My stealth Yrium Card Hunt attire is still very much a mystery, as of this moment, and I'm considering that a successful mission. It's possible some other geocacher has a fruity cha cha hat/dress thing goin' on, doncha think ? Innocent until proven guilty, Barrie aka: boysnbarrie Quote Link to comment

Steve: Great ideas! Jodi, Thank y' very much ma'am. Truth is I too am very pleased with this set of layouts. The dark, gradient background on the Eneregizer-Bunny number sure turned out swell ... very clear and sharp. Big reason was having some high-resolution source images to work with. Cell-phone images suck! The bunny-ear-cap treatment was suggested by Tom. He is great to work with, always a good judge of taste and knows when a layout is ready for press. Can't believe I fell into such a neat assignment as the Yrium card team. Makes me feel so connected to so many local Geocachers. There's just something about handling a person's digital body-parts that breeds an uncommon familiarity ... if y' know what I mean. Only your graphic artist knows for sure. By the way, I understand that you were instrumental in the selection of an honoree for this set of cards. Yes? Harmon SD Rowdies Edited June 5, 2010 by SD Rowdies Quote Link to comment

I'm becoming more and more bionic every day! Someday, I'll be able to just fly to the top of Iron Mountain! I stopped by Max's park early yesterday morning to get a glimpse of the card myself and I ran into The Lost Clan. I can attest that it was neither one of us was in the cha cha dress. I love the detail! Looking at the card with me on the motorcycle, I cannot spot anything that remotely reveals that this has been photoshopped. It just looks so real! I really appreciate the time and effort that you all put into this card. Thank you! By the way, I only grabbed one card and gave it to Ramona Retired Snipe, whom led a group of us around the Palomar Divide Truck Trail yesterday. It was a fun day! Quote Link to comment
