For the past several year GS has released a handful of new country/region souvenirs usually in December. Hopefully they will continue that yesterday so those that have found geocaches in countries they may have traveled a great distance will get a souvenir as a token of rememberance. There are several days in the year that are geocaching related. The anniversary of the 1st cache placed or when GS launched their web site. Although created by GS, international geocaching day or international earthcache day are at least days which recognize geocaching. Holidays, or days such as the first or last day of the year have nothing to do with geocaching and are just an excuse to create another souvenir. Souvenirs have become nothing more than a commodity with little resemblance to the traditional, real world definition of a souvenir.
