  1. Thanks Max. Where were you able to see who recently got the souvenir?
  2. I know this is an old thread, but does the HQ GeoTour digital souvenir still exist? I’ve found all the caches but don’t have the souvenir.
  3. Yes, I've been away a few days, not behind the computer. I do see that the reviewer is giving it a light touch but still don't understand how there is a gap of four years before it comes to the attention of a reviewer. Just trying to see behind the curtain on what would cause this. Does the CO get a personal email or how do they see that a reviewer note has been posted?
  4. Looking for someone to explain this to me. I was FTF on a cache that is in a remote area and requires quite a bit of hike. Needless to say, the area nor the cache is visited very often. The cache was found only a single time in late 2016. The next attempt on a find wasn't until late 2018, a full two years later and the attempt was made in the winter, in Colorado. In the (incorrect) DNF log, the cacher clearly stated that they could not make it to GZ due to all the snow. Four years later, the next log that pops up is a reviewer note that cache may need attention (again, note comes up in the winter in Colorado). I called out the reviewer about this being a remote, long hike cache, previous DNFer didn't even make it to GZ, maintenance would not be likely in the winter, why is this being flagged, etc. Six months later, the only response I get is "There are many factors that bring a cache to HQs attention, a single DNF does not suffice". Well, in the 6-1/2 years since placement, only one cacher has made it to GZ. Why would this come to HQs attention? Do they not like lonely caches? Are they cluttering the board too much? What is the algorithm that would cause this nonsense? 50% DNF rate?

    PQ

Thanks Mineral. This must be a new feature, I have not seen it before. I have created a PQ, and I saw that is in my lists on the app. Will it always remain there? I have always maintained my lists from the website (adding caches, deleting caches, etc.) and have used the app to update or refresh those lists. Is there a way to delete a list in the app? Is there a way to see this new list (which exists on the app)on the website?
  6. On the website, I can edit the description of any caches that I have in a list, and often I put a note why I am looking for that particular cache, such as D/T, or Hidden Month. Just a reminder to myself why I have that cache in a list. In the app, is there any way to see these descriptive notes when I am looking at my lists?
  7. terratin, There is a similar hide in my area that got Geocache of the Week at one point. Looks like this:
  8. I have been having a similar problem pretty much since day one of the app use. When I find a cache and log online on the PC, it doesn't always update the list on the app like it does on the PC. On the phone app list, you have to click on the cache in question, then pull down to refresh, and then it shows as found. Same issue when removing caches. Typically, I log as found online on PC, then I remove the cache from the list on PC. When I go back to using the list on the phone app, the cache still appears in my list, even when I try to refresh. I have to pick the cache and remove it from the list, and then I get the message that the cache has already been removed. I have to do this for every cache that has already been removed on the PC, the app does not refresh. This issue was reported back in 2018 with no response. Posted December 29, 2018 I created a short list of caches (6) to check on when visiting family over the holidays. I was able to pull up the list on my iPhone and use it to find 3 of the caches. When I got home, I used my computer to delete the caches I had found from the list. When I checked the list later on my iPhone, the caches I had deleted from the list were still showing up. The phone said there were 3 caches on the list in the header, but all 6 caches were showing up. I tried updating the list on the phone, but the caches still showed up. I have to manually remove them from the list on the phone, which does work, but it responds with the message "This geocache has already been removed." It also incorrectly updates the number of caches on the list, but that is corrected when I update the list on the phone. I appreciate creating lists on the computer for use on my phone when I'm out, but I wish they updated correctly.
  9. When I try to map any of my lists, all I get is a white screen. Google chrome on PC.
  10. I've been carrying around something like that as well and can't seem to figure out what it is. Any sleuths with an idea?
  11. Looks like a map for the "new" Jasmer. No longer is Aug-2000 the iconic find. It will be Apr-2020.
  12. Awesome, yes. That is the one I was searching for, also had the overview page from Project-GC that I was thinking of. Thanks so much!
  13. I have been searching all post for a thread related to annual statistics of Geocaching worldwide. I can't find anything and was wondering if it was on this site or Project-GC site, but can't find it there either. The conversation was about how many new caches are being published versus how many are being archived. Someone ran the statistics worldwide and published the results on an annual basis. There were also numbers regarding number of new cachers, etc. Does anyone remember this thread or post or what forum it might be located? Thanks.
  14. Did you disable any during the 2018-2019 flu season when over 1800 people died in your home state?
  15. ARRRRGGGHHHH!!! Crazy llamas running wild!
  16. Already looked for that one. https://coord.info/GC7BC7G And its GC code was one off from being its own palindrome!
  17. Indeed, there is a Great Circle in the spherical model, which can be determined by a singular point and a direction. However, there is no distance given in the puzzle, so either the CO has made an error in information given, or the part of the puzzle that needs to be solved will give you that distance along the Great Circle to be traveled.
  18. It is an interesting problem, as the CO gives a coordinate and direction, so the Great Circle can be calculated using the suggested tool, however, the cache could be anywhere on that great circle and without a specific distance measurement, how would you know where to stop? Obviously, you have a general idea, such as city and state, but at what exact point on the circle do you stop? Passing over the antipode is irrelevant as on any great circle, you will pass over a coordinate and its antipode. Should one assume that the fake puzzle coordinate actually has some true meaning?
  19. I am asking the question, and specifically asked for help from locals, because I do not live near the area, but will be travelling nearby. I can speak to many places in Colorado in the dead of winter that caches would be available. And if someone asked my opinion about the local area, I would give them an honest answer. Not just brush them off and say, "if you have to ask, you can't find it". So thanks for your opinion from across the pond, but it doesn't seem relevant. I am not deciding whether I am capable, I was merely asking about winter and road conditions in the area. Can you determine conditions from a topo map? I can't, which is why I asked. I am very familiar with remote desert locations. Blue Rajah - Thanks for the helpful info. Hwy 21 was the exact road out of Milford that I would be planning on, all the way to Pine Valley Road. Sounds like I'll have to save this one until summer as I won't be hauling my ATV or snowmobile on this particular trip. Hopefully, the high desert, unplowed road, storms don't stop me between Salina and St. George.
  20. I've looked through all the found logs on Wah Wah Stash (GCA8) and it seems no one finds it between November and March. Is it possible to find this cache in Mid-January without an additional 3 mile hike in snowshoes? Or is it totally dependent on how bad the winter is and how much snowfall has accumulated? Any locals have insight?
  21. Thank you for all the suggestions and the step by steps!
  22. But can I use GSAK on my phone if that is what I cache with? Or do I have to maintain another program on my PC, and then download the GSAK list to my GPSr? I like the ability to use the map on a smart phone, basically the GeoCaching app.
  23. I am looking for opinions and experience-based viewpoints on the best way that people have found to keep lists of geocaches. Here is my dilemma: I currently have 27 different lists of geocaches. Most of these are location based, so if I am planning a trip to Denver, for example, I have a list of caches that I would like to find while I am in the area. I also have a list of specific challenge caches that I need to sign, as well as a list of caches that were placed in the year 2000. My problem is that if I travel somewhere, I often forget about my other lists that have caches I need to find for specific challenges, or hidden dates, or D/T ratings, or a certain delorme page, or a specific county's DOA, etc. I feel like I am missing out on the intersection of some of these lists, and then I have to backtrack or wait for another opportunity to travel to that area. Should I move all of these caches into a single "global" list? Or is there a better way to keep track of the many, sometimes intersecting, goals? Anyone have a great plan that works?
