+Da' Hoffie Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 The thing that just occurred for me and this was within the past 30 minutes is being part of someone's first find. Brings a sense of joy and warmth to me. Da' Hoffie Quote
+barefootjeff Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 For me, it's journeys to amazing places that I would never have known about if it wasn't for someone's cache, sharing those experiences through logs and photos, placing caches of my own that I hope others will gain similar enjoyment from, and of course making new friends in the local community whom I'd have otherwise never met. +Soaring Eagle 7 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I cache as it takes me to interesting/beautiful places I would have never known existed. PS, I mostly cache in remote places, where I spend most of my time. Quote
+cerberus1 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 We aren't so surprised as we were years ago, when cachers took us to awesome views and unique locations. These days I enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods (lack of people) most. Quote
+Manville Possum Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I enjoy placing and maintaining geocaches in remote locations and historical sites, which are the same type caches that I enjoy seeking. Quote
+edexter Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Walking in woods, enjoying nature, kayaking to a cache, exercising the body... Quote
+The Magna Defender Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) From what I've gathered, most of the key posters in this forum don't enjoy geocaching anymore, they just like complaining about poorly maintained caches on the forum rather than going and enjoying the outdoors For me it's about the places I see. +Mama514 Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 If I'm out of town and have no idea of the area, I can look up caches on the map and find interesting places. Being from Texas, I have a few books that highlight these spots-- and there's usually a cache there anyway. If in a different state, geocaching is another source other than web searches for the same reason. Also, exercise is less boring. Oh, I've been to a few events that were fun too. Quote

I thought it was about complaining about the other geocachers in your area stealing all your caches and/or not showing up to your events. 1 Quote

I thought it was about complaining about the other geocachers in your area stealing all your caches and/or not showing up to your events. You and I both caught that one. I attended an event at a Tennessee State Park over the weekend and one cache was stolen before it published. It's in a very public place and out in the open. I believe a non-geocacher took it. Quote
+Viajero Perdido Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 This game is an insider's tour guide to the world's cool places. Who knew Hong Kong has mile-long deserted beaches? I didn't. Would I have climbed this mountain if not for the cache? Maybe eventually, but the cache certainly gave me the nudge. I'd have never noticed this temple waaay up a Korean mountain if a cache hadn't pulled me there. I could go on, but you get the idea. Cool places! Quote

+Furrhan Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Personally I enjoy the thrill of the hunt and the rewarding feeling when you have the "Ahah!" moment when you find the cache. ^^ Also getting to see new areas that I wouldn't otherwise have gone. Quote
+geodarts Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Things I enjoy: Locations (scenic, historical, cultural, artistic, roadside attractions). Virtuals, earthcaches, and creative letterbox hybrids. A destination when hiking or kayaking. Quote
+Bigmada Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Going to Mega events and the traveling to them. Quote
+Spliffa Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) I love finding unique places. For example, one cache that sticks out in my mind is a find from 2008. GC4B12 - Draper Mountain Cache was such a unique place that my family and I stayed there for an hour just looking around. Edited June 18, 2017 by Spliffa Quote
