+yanagi
Ok, I've allready tried to find out, if it is a good idea to start a search list mission and found 11 brave coiners who are interested in this experiment – so I will start and host my first mission: THE SEARCH LIST MISSION! All you need is a search list of coins that you are looking for, which can be found in the internet and your name and address must be listed in the Geocoinforum Address List (see here: LINK). What is the mission about: The searchlist mission is about having fun and fullfilling wishes of other coiners! How does the mission work: I will start the mission, but before I start it, all coiners who want to be part in this round have to post here the link to their searchlist and that they are ready for the mission. After 2 weeks of collecting participants for the first mission round I choose one coin of all the searchlists that I can fullfill somehow and that I send to the one who is searching for it as a surprise. The one who gets this coin has to start the second round. Again all the coiners who want to be part of the second round.... (and so on). If the mission comes to someone, who can't fullfill a wish, he has to send a surprise coin (no matter what coin) to me. What are the rules of the mission: 1. It's all about fun, everything else is of second priority! 2. If you get a coin you have to post it here (including pictures). At the same time new participants can sign in for two weeks for the next round of this mission. After that period try to find a coin that you are willing to part with (you don't have to send out coins that you would like to keep), that is on a wishlist of someone who participate in this round and send it out within 2 weeks (if this is not possible you have to keep everybody updated by posting here). If you are not able to find or get such a coin , send a surprise coin (no matter what coin) to the one who started the mission. 3. Sending coins with shipment tracking is favorable, in this case the tracking number should be posted here. The risk of shipping without shipment tracking is taken by the sender 4. All coins are rated the same! If you get a rare coin but can only find a coin for the next one which is not so rare, it is ok! 5. You have to keep your searchlist updated and detailed. If you don't want to have activated coins, it must be mentioned. If you only look for special versions of a coin, it must be mentioned. Etc. 6. The most important rule: IT IS ALL ABOUT FUN!!! If you have any questions, feel free to ask them! If you are interested, please sign in! There is almost no risk. You only have to send out a coin, when you got one! Let's play!!!! +nevadanick
I believe I posted that I would be interested in this mission. I will have to pass for now. I really don't have a 'seeking' list and the few we (my geo-partner and I) do want are already posted in the wants and top five lists here in the forum. I have not been able to figure our where to even start with a list of what we have available for trades, not to even think about what we 'want'. I think, for now, this mission is beyond my ability. Have fun all, I will just be a watcher/lurker for now. Quote Link to comment
+ElliPirelli
I'm not sure, if I get the concept correctly, but I'm game. As far as I know, my address is on that google doc, trouble is, I can't log into that document anymore, for some reason google doesn't grant me access. If someone, who has access as well as knowledge about those docs could check, if I'm on the list as well as send an invite to me, I'd be very grateful. My search list is pretty difficult to fulfill, I'm afraid: http://coord.info/TB2DQY8 Quote Link to comment

+JoergWausW
Sounds good, I probably won't be part, because of limited stock of coins. But here are my questions about the concept: How does the mission work: ... If the mission comes to someone, who can't fullfill a wish, he has to send a surprise coin (no matter what coin) to me. 1) Is there a reason why the surprise coin is supposed to be sent to you? Shouldn't this unlucky gifter who can't fulfill any wishlist's item be allowed to pick from people who weren't surprised yet? This is why I ask: If one mission cycle takes 2 weeks collection of participants, 1 week shipping plus a couple days for telling and posting pictures there won't be very much more than 15 to 20 missions a year. If the number of participants remains lower than that, it's fine of course. But if I get the idea of this project, the fun is to be surprised eventually. In other words: I see a risk of a lot of people posting their wish list and are passive most of the time (for months). I think the goal should be: make sure every participant recieves a coin at least once a year. 2) Maybe people who collect intensively should think about posting an "already have" or "don't want"/"just sold myself" list for common(or similar to the wishlist's) coins as well for this surprise case, so chances are smaller (I know they are pretty low in most cases) that people are ending up with a 'bad' surprise coin (meant well of course). +mamoreb
I'm in! Search list updated and available in the signature below. For me it makes sense that the "surprise coin" is sent back to yanagi. He starts the mission, so he has to give up one coin. And I guess that he will send out another coin to keep the mission going, once he has received a "surprise coin". I'm joining the mission hoping that I might, at some point, receive one of the coins I'm looking for. I don't collect all sorts of coins, so personally I am not very interested in receiving a "surprise coin" in trade for sending someone else something they are seeking, that I will be taking from my own collection. It could be fun to do a mission where each person sends a random coin to another participant, but I don't think that is this mission. Quote Link to comment
+yanagi
Hi Joerg, let me answer your questions Sounds good, I probably won't be part, because of limited stock of coins. But here are my questions about the concept: 1) Is there a reason why the surprise coin is supposed to be sent to you? Shouldn't this unlucky gifter who can't fulfill any wishlist's item be allowed to pick from people who weren't surprised yet? In other words: I see a risk of a lot of people posting their wish list and are passive most of the time (for months). I think the goal should be: make sure every participant recieves a coin at least once a year. Well, the reason for sending the surprise coin to me is exactly what mamoreb said. Because I host the mission it is ok for me to get a coin back, even if it is not on my searchlist. I can't expect that from other participants of the mission. And yes, maybe there will be just 15 to 20 missions per year and maybe there are participants with very challenging searchlists, who will not get a mission at all - BUT, hey 15 missions will be 15 happy coiners!! I think that is worth it! Yes, the more detailed the searchlist, the lower the risk of misunderstandings. Quote Link to comment

+yanagi
Sorry, I forgot to post that. I will choose a coin from the search lists on February the 2nd (2 weeks time to sign in) But if you're not ready untill then, you can sign in for the next rounds. I decided to do a new registration for each round because of two reasons: - if you are on holidays or want to skip a round for other reasons it is not a problem at all - I want to avoid that people register that will leave this group in a few months, so I think this will ensure that always motivated coiners will get a coin from their searchlist. I know it is an experiment and no one knows if it works but as I told you, the risk is almost only on my side. Quote Link to comment

+ElliPirelli
How late on February 2nd? I'm not sure, how to take your question. Don't you consider 10 days long enough to get some kind of search list together? There are so many forms of lists, you could use a coin listing like some of us or one of the organised sites. You could even put a paragraph or two into your geocaching profil, as long as it states a handful of coins you'd like to have. Noone says they need to be rare, they just need to be some you'd really like to have in your collection. But I guess, if you'd need a time, you could use CET (Central European Time, which is UTC+1) as a hint, as yanagi is living in Germany... (Not sure, if that was your question, though.) Recalling something Diane (Steben6) posted in the Xmas Mission, they are out of town until Feb 2nd. She posted a note there that they would not have access to whatever coin they received for their mission until Feb 2nd (or something close to that). I didn't go back to read the details of the post, but I'm sure they are out of town traveling. Might it hard to even check on what you might have on a coin list if you don't have access to any lists while traveling. Quote Link to comment

We are still out of town on a very long caching road trip in our RV and won't be getting home until Feb 1st or 2nd. I definitely could put a list together while on the road, but I have a list at home I was hoping to look at before I posted a searchlist. Sorry for the delay, and if I don't get it done by Feb 2nd, I'll just join on the next round. I have a bunch of coins waiting for me at home (it will be like Christmas!), and don't want to duplicate on my wish list ones that I received over the holidays. Not trying to make things hard, really. Quote Link to comment

I got the notification from the post office on Thursday, picked it up later that evening, but needed a little while to present the arrival of the search list mission properly. The trackable from my search list is the Native Pegasus coin to the left in the picture. The core part of my geocoin collection is shaped animal coins, and Tsunrisebey designs play an important role. Very pleased to add another coin to my collection! I'm surprised and thankful for the additional contents. The Team Yanagi geocoin is an excellent design and concept, which I have admired since it was first posted to this forum. Very happy to own one! The chocolate is very tasty, I am having the first pieces as I'm writing. So... I guess this means that the signup for the next stage of the mission is open?
