+N7MFT
Hello everyone; I would like to know who might be interested in taking a Geocaching related cruise. While on the water there would be Geocaching related activities, met and greets, classes, etc. I am looking at setting this up for the summer/fall of 2014. I have a couple of destinations in mind but I am not ready to disclose them just yet. Just trying to get a feel if this is even feasible. I would like to kick it off with an event that would be certified mega at a later date. It would of course be open to muggles as one of the classes could be Geocaching 101. As long as it is civil all input will be welcome. N7MFT Quote Link to comment
+Lil Devil
There is the Alaska Northbound Geocaching Cruise. About 20 people or so already booked that I know of. Probably more that I don't know of. Many of us are renting cars at the end, then geocaching our way to Anchorage before flying home. Hope to see you there. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Not a getting started issue. Moving to the general forum. Quote Link to comment
AZcachemeister
I can't go on a cruise right now since it would probably spoil my streak. Maybe next year. Quote Link to comment
knowschad
I think that trying to find a Traditional cache while underway could be a lot of fun. Great way to practice the man overboard drills, too! Quote Link to comment

+JamieJanaG
I work on cruise ships, just wrote a massive reply and then thought best if I just answer any questions instead of posting the negatives so if you do have any ask away. Quote Link to comment

I recommend Gwennie's Restaurant on Spenard Road, not too far from the Anchorage Airport. A very good place for breakfast. I've been told everything else there is good too. I just haven't been close to Gwennie's at other meal times whenever I was in Anchorage. Quote Link to comment

+wimseyguy
We took an Alaskan cruisetour with another couple who also cache after the block party. We made it a point to find one in each port of call. Our ship left from Vancouver, but we didn't have time to get any in town. So we rented a car in Skagway and drove up to Emerald Lake in the Yukon to enjoy some very nice scenery and add another country to the map. We also were able to enjoy Glacier Bay NP and log the 5* virts there. After getting off the ship in Seward we attended an event in Anchorage, then took the train up to Denali and on to Fairbanks. Didn't know about this cruise when we booked a similar 7 day cruise out of Vancouver so I guess we'll be all on our own. (the dates wouldn't have worked anyway) Have only been on one cruise ship and it was the Radiance of the Seas, she's a nice boat and you will have fun. Quote Link to comment
