+milhowzer
During the course of my geocaching career I have run into a few ammo cans that have been seriously damaged by various causes....I have taken pictures of a few of these ammo cans....if anyone else has similar pictures that they can post to this forum please do.... this ammo can got run over by a bulldozer....I couldn't get it open so I signed my name on the outside Quote Link to comment
+terrkan78
Different pieces of the same can (at least I think). Apparently got hit by some kind of industrial equipment. It was filled with legos - it took a while, but cachers eventually got all the errant legos rounded up. Quote Link to comment

+The A-Team
This ammo can was destroyed in a controlled burn forest fire. ... That can seems just fine except for the rubber seal. The cans we have up here in the Great White North (I assume they're Canadian military surplus) don't have the seal, so they'd probably be just fine after a fire. Quote Link to comment
+SwineFlew
I should take pictures of all the ammo cans that I find along the coast. Oh the rust is really bad! Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
The ammo can from Ekabug & Riffster Sittin In A Tree. It was under a fallen tree for two years, and had a snake living inside. The contents were a little rusty, but the log book was in good shape. I found it by accident one day, and returned it all to the Cache Owner. And I didn't log a "find". Quote Link to comment

+OZ2CPU
A find, WITH a working logbook, and you signed it, then you should log it as found online, and also add your cool experiance and picture of it.. why not ?? Quote Link to comment

I found it by accident one day, and returned it all to the Cache Owner. And I didn't log a "find". Silly question, but why not log a find? You found it, right? I've wondered that myself . It was not in place (it was originally up in a tree), it was at the edge of the forest (someone else had found it and placed it there) 50 feet from its tree. And it was archived over a year before. I took the whole thing home, and therefore was Last To Find, nobody else can log a find on it. It seemed like a Note was more appropriate. Say I found a cache log book on the ground somewhere, would I log the cache Found It online? Meh, probably not. This is almost no different. It just seemed like the thing to do, just this once. I don't recommend this plan to everyone else. Don't try this at home. Your mileage may vary. AND I was scouting that exact spot to place a cache. That's how I stumbled upon the Archived one. It would be pretty obnoxious of me to say "Found It! I took it all away! Dibs on your cool cache spot!" To this day, I wonder if the Cache Owner believes I found it by accident. I don't know if I'd believe it. So... yes, I could log Found It. If the CO had said, "While you're at it, why not log a Find?", I would. My story is in the log book, and on the cache page. I'd rather let it stay the way it is. I promise to "Find" all the rest of them! Edited September 8, 2012 by kunarion Quote Link to comment
+The_Incredibles_
Well, to each his own. I sure as heck would have logged a Find. I know of a caching couple who found a cache years after archiving and they logged it. Quote Link to comment

+ras_oscar
I logged an archived cache once. It was on my PQ as active. I signed the log sheet, and when I went home to log the find I found out it was archived by the owner for no apparent reason. I logged it with no issues whatsoever. Quote Link to comment

+T.D.M.22
I would but it just looks like the rest of the tree it was in(ashes). My LnL was caught in a fire before I even had a chance to get it reviewed. I only knew what it was because I was the one who put it there. Quote Link to comment
+SwineFlew
Different pieces of the same can (at least I think). Apparently got hit by some kind of industrial equipment. It was filled with legos - it took a while, but cachers eventually got all the errant legos rounded up. Was that one of Legoboy's caches? He got one out there FULL of pennies. Havent got muggled yet. And its very heavy!! Edited September 8, 2012 by SwineFlew Quote Link to comment
+jellis
Hey some of those look like ones in Lil' Devil's yard after he ran them over with his mower. Quote Link to comment

And its very heavy!! Yes, it was. I took my kids there a couple of times just for the fun of hunting legos - they were flung far and wide. I was hiking out there recently and found the second chunk of ammo can (which I took and used on one of my hides, with the CO's permission). Didn't find any more legos though. Quote Link to comment

+gtsally
I challenge you to show a pic of a lock-n-lock after a similar fire. There is a pic of a Water Bottle cache that got caught up in an out of control, controlled, burn on this cache page. GC2V5KA Sorry, I haven't had any luck on transferring pics. Quote Link to comment
