how would you even know if the owner logged a find? do you look at every log to see if they did?

think id have heart attack if i saw that snake in a geocache lol (there are no snakes in hawaii)

id treat it as a cache with full logbook, just add a page to it, sign and be happy. then post a need maintenance log. or you can be like some people and leave a "drop down" cache?

bring umbrella and buy a camelback. idea is you freeze the water in the bag, so when u carry it, its nice and cool on your back. Here in Hawaii, its the humidity that gets you...

before i used to take tons of pictures when i go caching, now im lazy and only take when i remember i have a camera on me. guess when u do photography as a job, taking leisure pictures kind of gets to be a chore!!

did you drive around and see if there is anything interesting in the small town? statue? neat tree? river? pond?

what a fun series of caches. too bad the lost district wasnt Hawaii!! lol and i think on each district, they should tie them all together with a link to the other caches, so people know there are 13 (?) in all.

Gorilla glue. Have strong magnets inside the case, not outside, is another method. i glued 2 super magnets to a rock, then duct taped it to make sure dont fall off. then i put 2 more inside the case and tried to hot glue it down, then covered with duct tape. after short time, the inside ones came loose and stuck together so they wouldnt grab the ones on the rock correctly (pos/neg didnt align right way). ill have to try give gorilla glue a try.

ive done caching with only a dedicated gps unit but would love to use an iPhone. when i look for cache, i jot down bit of info on a paper to carry with me to help when i get stuck finding it. I would love to be able to just log onto geocaching.com and look up the log info. and sometimes i think i loaded all the caches im going to find for that trip and end up missing one. love to be able to just look it up.

sorry for late reply! and many thanks for all the hints. the container is a small lock n lock thats 3 and 1/2 by 2 inches in size covered in camo duct tape. Coordinates were taken with my Garmin 60CSx averaged to 100. If you're ever there at the coords, you can tell there's is only one place for it to be (general location). I used to have it with magnets holding it up but couldnt find a glue that would keep my magnets attached to the vinyl/plastic the case is made out of. So changed to just regular "hide behind rock" type. think maybe a spoiler picture might help but I dont want to put it so it ruins it for the people who dont want hints, how do u make spoiler picture w/out it spoiling the cache? just post up a link to it? again many thx and mahalo for all the tips

when i placed it (GC2V6VM), gave it a 1.5 difficulty since it was just hidden behind a rock. It is a micro about the size of a large tic tac container but with soo many no finds, i upped it to a 2. But now i have 9 no finds out of 11 in my last few logs!! I checked up on it a lot of times to make sure its not gone and its right where should be. so, should i just upgrade it a bit? hate getting all the unhappy faces since i really wanted an easy one.

fun topic, cant believe i read the whole thing today.. mine was from long ago when i got an AOL account back in 1998? 97? i wanted one that anyone from Hawaii would recognize but i was having a hard time. everything i tried was taken. last one i tried was howzit, which is kind of a Hawaiian slang for hello. It was taken so i just added some random numbers to it and it finally wasnt used!! problem was the numbers I chose were Howzit666 lol . when i used the name, everyone thought i was into devil worshiping, so i dropped the 666 and added "boy", making howzitboy. works great cuz any website i try that name is never taken!!

wish i had thought of that before. that would have worked great. guess ill have to find another coconut to give it a try.

love this topic!! i have one cache that keeps getting misplaced so i made a replacement when the current one goes byebye again. Coco-cache front back ill have to rub some dirt on it to hide the tie strap.

that hasnt happened to me but when i try use the map, all the caches dont show up but if i mouse over where the cache should be, you can click to get the menu to pop up. i gave up and went to the older map.

there was a cache in Hawaii that was one of my fav and i noticed the CO archived it because he was moving away. I asked if I could adopt it but he said once archived, its gone. So, wish his permission, i relisted it with same container and its back in action. First to find wasnt too happy finding the same cache container as before but.. lol

its been like this since last night. cant connect at all or just hangs up. wish they would fix it so i can log some pictures i took of some travelers..

i used my gps and it pointed me to a location by a fence, but when i looked for cache, couldnt find it. went home and looked it up on google earth and it pointed to the exact location where it was (about 30 feet from where my gps picked).

i got this one. really wicked looking thing ! but not enough weight to hack down branches very well...

i carry my hiking back pack which has: 50 ft rope machete raincoat space blanket first aid kit compass binoculars camera w/extra batteries and memory cards and lens! whistle knife water bottles poncho (those small disposable types) book or printout of trail im going on video camera (small one that shoots hd video) snacks, candy, chips, sandwich gloves flashlight so about 30lbs worth of stuff!! no wonder im pooped after day of hiking!

i got a machete in my backpack , just in case. Never can tell who or what might be coming down the trail... usually I just push thru the stuff or stomp it to the ground lol. long pants and boots are a must have item.

i bought long ago a zillion marbles on ebay that i was going to give to my daughters school for the kids to play with. but, someone complained so i ended up with them all lol. must have been like over 50lbs of marbles.
