Accepting your own Challenge

well, challenges do not really count as finds, they are not in your totals...so I have no problem. The one I created I did so. I suppose at some point, depending how many one creates, it would seem they would just padding your challenge totals.

However, I do not think there is much energy on "challenges" anymore (as oppose to you doing that on "challenge caches", so go for it.

And, you do not own them anyway. You just create them.

Thanks guys - might have a bit of difficulty completing at least one of my own challenges but I have some creative ideas for a couple of them!! :D

Even if these counted (as they did for a day or two in the beginning) toward your "totals", it would make logical sense that you can accept and complete them. A cache you hide is not possible to find since you know where it is, however challenges are like events. The difference is rather than a hide, you simply set the criteria. In events, the criteria is attendance, which the organizer hopefully meets. With the challenge, you will complete the steps required (for instance photo looking down from glass enclosure on Willis Tower in Chicago), which would qualify as completed.

There is even a suggestion that the owner demonstrate via completion the challenge is possible. While unnecessary, it follows the same logic, albeit in a convoluted manner.

Created 6 challenges all relating to musicians of the 60s/70s playing at venues in my home city of Norwich (Norfolk, UK). To complete the challenges you have to be photographed outside the relevant venue with something relevant to the artist in question (see example below)

Although I can easily do the ones relating to The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Pink Floyd, the Hendrix, Bowie and Yes ones may prove a bit more difficult!!!!!

I have vinyl albums for all of them and have seen three of them live (Stones, Pink Floyd, Yes).

I did actually attend the Stones, Bowie and Pink Floyd concerts at the venues in question and I have seen Yes elsewhere. Think it will be a dragging out the vinyl moment for some of them. Have a good idea up my sleeve for the Stones one though....watch this space!

As a personal matter, I would never challenge someone to do something I have not done. Otherwise it is too much like "daring" and "double daring" for my taste. I made three challenges in areas where you could not place a cache, but I had already challenged myself first. And having done that, I would not "complete" a challenge that I created since the challenge is directed to others acting upon it in the future

There is a cove that is only accessible after a hike, when the tide is low enough to go through an arch. Caching is not permitted there. I might make that a challenge, but am waiting for the right tide so that I can take the picture before challenging others to do it.

Some of the challenges I've created are things I have done. Some are things I want to do. All are doable. I would not create an impossible challenge as that would be pointless.

But to the subject at hand, I see nothing wrong with completing a challenge you created.

I post my photo on most of my challanges as an example, so logging my own would be pointless would'nt it? Or have I just completed my challange while creating it?

I think that's probably what you've done! Well done! :D
