+Crazy Bird Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 The oldest cache we have found is called Flashes Cache GC2EF2 placed 12/30/2001. Quote
+Machuco Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 My oldest is GC23. The oldest on Oahu Quote
+B+L Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 The oldest cache we've found is GC6, hidden May 9, 2000. It can't be logged because it's archived and the cache page is locked. http://coord.info/GC6 The next time someone goes on about how caching was better in the old days, show them this picture of the 5th cache ever hidden. It's right next to some active railroad tracks at a spot where people pull off the road and run into the woods for emergency bathroom breaks. Quote
+JBnW Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Another Mingo graduate...but I live in KS and its expected. My next are GCDDB (June 25, 01); and GC1DD0 (Sept. 19, 01). Am going for the KS 2001 Challenge (GC1ZZ39; 49 caches placed before Dec 31, 2001)...right after I complete the KS DeLorme, KS 105 Counties, and Virtual KS (105 remaining virts).... let's see, are there any others?? Nope. Knock those off then go get Ye Olde Kansas Caches. Quote

The again, I'd like to think I was rich. But, just because I'd like to think it doesn't make it true. Quote
+Cuddlefish Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 The oldest I found is British Columbia's oldest: http://coord.info/GC1DD 02/02/01 It is about 2 kms from my home and I found it about 2 weeks into my geocaching 'career'. It was cache 16 for me. Had I had known of its significance, I definitely would have saved it for a proper milestone cache like so many others around here do. Quote
+dfx Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I'd like to think we have learned since then. mankind is slow to learn. history repeats itself. some may argue it's actually getting worse! Quote
+bflentje Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I've found the following oldest active caches. They are listed in order by date hidden. +Castle Mischief Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 In order of age, here are my top 5 oldest: Quote
+mountainman38 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 What is the oldest cache you have found...? List the GC code and location for all of us to see. GCDCC (Mount Roothaan Geocache, from 2001) this last weekend is my oldest. Seems like a great place to go for the views -- except we were in heavy cloud cover and couldn't see more than about 100 feet. Quote

The oldest one in town is John H Shields Park, http://coord.info/GCF4B. I have not had the chance to go up and find it. PaneledZero Quote
+Geolens Reviewer Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I found GC92 in Oregon - very close to Original stash plaque. Quote

+The Chaos Crew Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 The oldest we've found is GC43 "Europe's First" placed in June 2000. MrsB that's our oldest one too, it's just outside Dublin, lovely sea views Quote
+NevaP Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) I've logged six placed in 2000 caches: GC30 Mingo 5/11/00 GC28 Beverly 5/13/00 GC31 Arikaree 5/31/00 GC1B Gorilla Stash 6/27/00 GC18 Tarryall 7/02/00 GC74 Melbourne's First 10/08/00 There's a event next month, GC2E2HF, to celebrate Melbourne's First's 10 year anniversary. I wish I could go but it's not exactly in my back yard. The cache is at one of the prettiest spots in Southern Australia. Edited September 15, 2010 by NevaP Quote
+NDOkie Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I am a Mingo alumni. The second most cool factor about this cache after its age is the mowed path from the road to the cache. It reminded me of a temple or memorial. Totally cool!! Add to that the incredibly large log book and it is a worthy caching experience. Quote
+supertbone Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) I found Potter's Pond (GC3B) which was placed on 08/27/2000. It is the first and the oldest cache placed in Utah. http://coord.info/GC3B Edited September 19, 2010 by supertbone Quote

+geowas Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 (edited) I found GC43 - Europe's First this summer. My favourite oldie is for sure GC443 - The Rhine View Stash, still having the original container, logbook, etc! Edited September 20, 2010 by geowas Quote
