Northern New York Geocaching

Can someone point me to the Northern New York Geocachers Organization?

I been trying to find it but no luck? do they have a website?/

I remember their website being long gone, and a Google search even shows their old Yahoo Group has been deleted. But the Google search also brings up this blurb on the Blue Line Geocachers website, saying they have taken over for NNYGEO: Blue Line Geocachers link

If by chance you're interested in logging one of their trackable wooden nickels (I still see them), that stuff all still works at a totally independent tracking website http://log4.us/nnygeo At that website, you can see that the posted link for their old website is dead.

NYGO shut down a few months ago, but http://geocachingcny.com/index.php is still active, and you'd be welcome at GeoRoc as well, but not a whole lot of get into the north country regularly. There's also a group out of Albany. This may prove helpful as well.

One of these days I'll make a trip up to Potsdam to see what's been going on at my alma mater's campus. And maybe find some caches along the way.

I do know that there are a couple of geocachers who are currently in the Southwest who will be moving up to Ft. Drum next year. But, that doesn't help for now.

He-he. I hope they're not originally from the Southwest. A little cold up there. There seems to be quite the active Fort Drum caching community, just from what I've seen surfing the listings around Watertown once in a while.

As I mentioned in the 2nd post, The Blueline Geocachers have taken over for NNYGEO. Although Watertown is outside the "Blue line", and Geocaching CNY could suit them well too.

I tried to organize a Northern New York Geocaching Organization quite a few years back. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...56-6b31f1ad313c

It's more accurate to say that I hosted an event, got a great turnout, got scared of the commitment, and never followed through with future endeavors. There are still many interested but the only local group I can recall right now is the MAGC Fort Drum chapter run by LoneSapper. Lear & Jana might as well call themselves the NNYGO since they assist or host many of the events.
