  1. thank you everyone!! Maybe I'll throw an event together sometime this summer to get to know people around here!
  2. Can someone point me to the Northern New York Geocachers Organization? I been trying to find it but no luck? do they have a website?/
  3. Hey i'm going to be moving down near New Orleans in the next couple months and was wondering what Geocaching Assocations are down there and what might the websites be? thanks for your help!
  4. ok, here what i have for advice, get with someone cacher's in your area that have a good set of numbers, and set up a date and time, to get together, and have them give you some pointers, or advice on how to find caches.. i have done this when i first started out, and i have returned the favor to other new cacher's in my area.. it works and its a great way to meet other cachers in your area.. and to make new friends! and don't worry about not getting it at first.. i didn't find the first cache i went looking for, and i thought i suck at it too!! you'll get it, you just need to get some experience under your belt and you'll start getting it!
  5. Was wondering what has been going on for the event?? is it still on? if so.. when is the page going up?
  6. Heres our event for the Kick Off Clean Up.. NorthEast Wisconsin a group of us decided to put on a series of CITO events in the month of april, and i got the first weekend, so i called it the Kick Off Clean Up well here is the group Pictures the whole crew.. it turned out to be a great event and with the working with the Manitowoc PRD, planning on many more events this summer.. as they have requested if we could come in and clean out a couple other parks for them.. should be a lot of fun! heres the link to the event page Kick Off Clean Up CITO 2007
  7. I tried the links on this topic and none of them are working, anyone have a word doc. of the labels???
  8. August 3 thru 5 Cool thanks!! might make it out to that!
  9. I have logged finds when i did not sign the log, but I DID find the cache, only reason why i did not signed the log, is because of 1. the log has been destoried, waterlogged, or full 2. it was imposible to sign it due to unreasonable conditions (for instance hanging on underneath a foot bridge, with the creek that this said footbridge was flooded! so otherwise impossible to actually sign the log) 3. i'm retarded and forgot a pen and its a 1.5 miles back to the car Those are pretty much the reason why
  10. Was wondering what the Date is for this event?? If the timing is good, I might make a trip out to this one!
  11. You know maybe the reason why people don't like micro's is that they can't find them so they hate them.. I can't seem to figure out Puzzel caches but that does mean i hate them and think that should be banned.. Micro's are just an added challenge granted micro in the woods is retarded yes, Micro's have their place in this Game.. So just get over it! if you don't like them, don't do them! simple as that.. thats what i did for the longest time with Puzzel caches, until i had someone kind of explain them to me and how to figure them out! hell i still filter out puzzle caches so i don't have to do them.. what ever thats just me......
  12. Forgive me, I realize that I often don't read really long posts carefully enough, however, I still don't really understand why you deleted the logs. Did they not lie like you asked them to? She deleted them Because they were inapprorate, claiming someone died is taking it to far, There was at one point at the least 50 cachers who watch the cache and when they saw someone claiming someone died LO was bombard with emails. The lie was to tell a tale that included rock climbing, high road/low road, and a cave (i'm sure there was a couple other points that had to be mentioned but i do not remember them) There was no need to take it that far! If they did not approve of a cache then maybe they shouldn't of even bother logging anything.. and just let it be! instead they have let it dragged out over two months. This needs to stop and if have too maybe ask admin to lock this topic, or move on and let this one die, its a new year get over it!
  13. I'm sorry I am not you and hold nothing against you or any of the other cachers that were there but even you admited you were pissed off about the truth in the beginning so then you can see how others might be too. Which indicates to me that you also did not know when you departed for your journey that this was a liar's cache - is that correct? Yes this is Correct when i first went after the cache i had no idea that it was a lair's cache. Yes i was pissed off, BUT i had gotten over right away, UNLIKE CamoCacher and the rest of the group who went on that trip, Who are still raging about this. All i have to say is JUST Drop It. The cache is gone, what more do you want!
  14. OK, i have been sitting on my hands waiting to get off work for the last two days so i can say my piece in this whole thing! I'm one of the WI Cachers who came out to the Dells out of my OWN time to see MN find the Gauntlet, I'm also good friends with LO. I spent will over 200 dollars on that weekend and spent close to 300dollars on a pervious weekend in July to complete the Cache in Question ALSO My Dad Rode his motorcycle well over 500+ miles from Ohio to do this cache with has spent quite a bit of money himself.. I can understand about the spending of money but CammoCacher, and Red Devil(Sorry not quite sure of the name) You have over reacted and still are overreacting I was pissed off too at first but then i got over it in all over 10minutes of finding the cache! and i was a helluva lot more embrasse about it because i had gotten a group of over 20 people (5-8 of them are veterns of this cache) I still had fun, once i was over it i laughed at myself and got over it! When i met all of you that night before I thought you were all very nice, and good people. But the way you have acting is starting to make me think differently, and i don't want to think of you as mean people! I'm sorry you have feel this way about the whole thing, but i wish you could leave LO alone, and just drop the whole issue. Listen to the rest of MN cachers on your own Forums and take their advice, this has gone on too long, Drop it please... I hope this creates no hard feelings, I don't want to upset anyone futher but this has gone on long enough! and it needs to stop! Coastiegirl04
  15. I agree with Team Hall-JTSJT i would rather not have the Purple Heart used in this way.. Why not just make up our own symbol for something like it.. Why not just a Band-Aid.. that could work!
  16. ok thank you all for helping me out! i'll hopefully be able to do this
  17. I don't understand, Why isn't that you can only do a search by zip code.. it would be nice to do a search by state.. is there a way to do this or is that just not an option .. and if its not, will there be?
  18. I think its cool that they are working on that.. to put a GPS in PSP but it just seems like too many toys in one tiny machine..
  19. Well i wasn't looking for caches near bases, i was suggesting starting a military forum, like down in the States you have your own section of the U.S, or country, i was thinking of one for military.. thats all
  20. I don't know for sure where to make a suggestion at.. I'll describe what i'm suggesting here and maybe someone can help me out.. I'm in the military, and I notice that we have in the forums for sections of the states, but being in the military we move around a lot, and so technicly military members are locationless I would like to suggest a forum for Military members on Groundspeak where we could talk and pass around information about caches that are near by bases.. if thats possible please take that into consideration! thank you for your time...
  21. I'll admit it! am 20 soon to be 21 in 7months (and counting) Not in college, but in the military active duty, will be taking college classes in the fall ( online classes that is)
  22. Well.. not exactly like yours, but i normally cache by myself, and my sister and Mom and Dad back in Ohio, worry about me being out in the woods all by myself, so i take the precautions of protecting myself, i carry a folding hiking stick which doubles as a batlon if attacked, ( i have training on this so i know where to hit to bring them down but not beat them) I also carry pepper spray, which also i have had training on this, and personally been sprayed by it so i know how it feels! I also have been trained in self defense. So i have taken precautions to protect myself from human attacks.. But my own attacks, (like slipping and hurting myself) i have and do take precautions of always carrying a cell phone, making sure someone knows where i'm caching at, i carry a first aid kit in my car, a smaller verison in my bag... I also have a radio (i have a rino120) so i can start hailing someone there tocome and help me if i can't get back to the car.. I have slipped and fell in mud on which thats where the hiking stick came in at, to help me keep my balance. so i know my limitations and i take the precautions to help minimize the things that might come up when i'm out there caching
  23. Now its not that bad, i don't agree with the moving the cache 500ft after one year, but i do understand the reasoning behind it, it to reduce any harm that may happen in the small area that the cache is hiding at, But what you said having a fee for carrying a gpsr, thats going way to far! but i know you were just making a joke, A lot of what they listed sound almost the same as whats in the GC.com rules for placing a cache, and a lot of it is common sense.. and just what a lot of parks would like, they just want to put it in to words is all and make it known!
  24. this was my experience about two weekends ago, worst part of it is i didn't find the cache but heres the log, also no pictures sorry!! Blueberry Forest Cache GCK8R1 February 26 by Coastiegirl04 (167 found) So, i didn't find it, but i still had an interesting experience with this cache, i must say... Well i parked on the side of the road, and i didn't know there wasn't much of a shoulder due to the snow... my whole passenger side of my car went off the ledge... i got myself stuck, my car couldn't get back up because of the snow! it just kept slipping off, so i was good and truly stuck there... so i was out of the car trying to decide should i try to flag someone down and get help moving it out or wait and get the cache, and then flag someone down.. so being a cacher, i decide i'm already stuck am probly going to be there for a while, i'll go for the cache, and then work on getting my car out, so i pludge into the woods in search of the cache, i looked and i looked couldn't find it.. darn it.. i go back to the car and start working on getting the car out, (now i have a Ford Escape with 4wd) you would think i could get it out no problem right? yea no... so i keep trying i get it a little worse then it already was, i moved my car up and on to ice, so all four wheels are turning, but no movement either way! so am good and stuck now, finally a van goes by a nice guy gets out and ask if i need help i told him i do, i need to get my car out, So the guys ask me while we are looking and seeing how we are going to do this, "what was i doing that i got my car stuck like this?" So i repied "well i was geocaching." "whats that?" i started laughing" its a sport where you go out to the woods and look for a box with your GPS" i swear to god i thought when the guy left to get a tow strap from his cabin. that he wasn't going to be back from the look he gave me... But lucky he did, and with the help of another truck and the van guy's tow strap they got me out in like 5 seconds flat.. Believe, that very day, i went out and bought myself a towing strap, so if i get in that trouble again (for its fact that it probley will happen again) or someone else gets in trouble i can help! Agh, but after that little experience i decide i was done for the day and headed back for Two Rivers, But do believe i will be back! i will get this cache, for the experience it put me through! it will be FIND!
  25. You log the date you found it.. its not that complacted, just keep a notebook to keep track of what day you found, and you can make notes about the cache, like if it needs to be replaced or some sort of maintance needs to be done.. Also if anything happens on the hike, you'll know which one it was.. But back on subject, It doesn't matter if someone else already log it on the website before you did, You will still log the date you found the cache on. hope i helped you out!
