I recently ordered 15 lock and locks, 5 of which were definitely on the smaller end. I squeeze full mini notebooks into the other 10, but short of cutting out paper and stapling it for the log, what should I do? Are there any notebooks that are smaler than the average one found? If so links are appreciated.

What most do is cut the book in half -- stapling the bottom half together (if your stapler can handle that) for another cache.

 

Otherwise, use a long roll of paper, similar to that in a micro.

 

If you have spiral bound logbooks (top spiral), cut them top to bottom, wirecutters for the spiral wire, same thing for edge bound, just cut across, then wire snip.

 

Unless somebody would say otherwise, I wouldn't cut a sewn book.

At the local party store I found these very small log books that are very inexpensive (25 cents each) that fit very well in a small lock and lock.

 

They have enough pages to last quite a while. If you want to go even longer without cache maintenance, then put in two books at that price.

Or, look in the stationary aisle at Walmart (or other store) to see if they have tiny notebooks or notepads. If all else fails, cut down a notebook to size or just staple some papers together.

I've used my bandsaw to cut a larger spiral-bound notepad down, so it would fit in a container with a smaller opening.

It's funny that I clicked on this topic just now, because I just finished cutting a top-bound spiral pad straight down the middle to fit a piece of it into a match holder.

 

I've actually got a a 60-page log book in this match holder now.

I just use my kid's sissors and cut 20 or pages at a time unitl I hack my way through the larger notebook. I get them at Sam's Club for something like $3.80 for a pack of 12.

Well, it's already paid for so why not use it? I just have to cut the wire with wirecutters first because it's over $25 to sharpen the blade.

 

I suppose I could throw some paper into the folder though, just as easy.

No, I wasn't kidding. I own it along with a couple printing presses and the folder. I lease them to a print shop so any time I need to use them, they are set up and ready to go.
