+wigglesworth
Just bought an IPAQ 5720 which is great but...... The device comes with tomtom 6 which works well. I have loaded my old version of memory map v 4.4.3 The memory map gps position lagged so I fired up MMSiRF and all was well - but only for a couple of minutes. I reran MMSIRF again all was well but not for long! MMSIRFsetup is port 1 and baudrate 9600 I guess some other program is resetting tje gps. W4e were not running tomtom at this time. Any ideas? +DesG
The same thing happens on our Mio P550 running the same version of MM, think we need to upgrade our maps:o( Quote Link to comment
+PopUpPirate
Check out that SE caching link... MMSIRFSETUP is what you need, for both the Ipaq and the Mio. Quote Link to comment
+wigglesworth
I have run MMSIRFSETUP and the memory map position updates on time but for less than a minute. Are there any other setup options or chnages I should make? I have loaded my old version of memory map v 4.4.3 MMSIRFsetup is port 1 and baudrate 9600 Could it be that everyone else uses a later version of memory map? Peter Quote Link to comment

There is a sirf tutorial HERE that might be worth a look To expand on that, my 5720 has the following GPS settings: In the Programs tab the port is set to COM7 In the Hardware tab the port is COM1 at 9600 baud In the Access tab the box is ticked to "Manage GPS automatically". That all works for me - but I have not tried to use TomTom and MM at the same time. Quote Link to comment

markandlynn
Was tom tom killed from running or just closed ? i often find applications dont stop on these when you close them and you have to kill then from the running programs list. Quote Link to comment
+wigglesworth
Thanks for all the help you good people but I am not there yet! I exit tomtom and memory map using the exit command rather than the red X! Have also checked all ports and they are as suggested. Just experimented with memory map after a hardware reset ie tomtom has not been run. Placed the GPS on display location and I could see the time lag from when I changed direction. This was after setting MMSIRFSETUP. I am now wondering if it is because I am using an old copy of memory map - version 4.3.3. Does anybody else run this version of MM? Quote Link to comment
+DesG
I downloaded MMsirfsetup in to the Mio and tried it out on Monday but MM v4.3.3 was still lagging behind and while walking towards a cache I was having a little play with the settings in MMsirfsetup but all it did was freeze the PDA, tried again yesterday after first making sure no other programmes were running and managed to set up MMsirfsetup, I originally set the com port to the same one as MM but found this didn't work and changed it to the GPS programme port setting and it now works perfectly. Thanks all. Regards Des Quote Link to comment

+Mr'D
Hi, Just seen this thread. I have had this enormous 'lag' in memory map a couple of times now (usually after a full PC reinstall). The problem lay in my Memory Map registration details ;-) PM me if you like. Jon Quote Link to comment
