CoxandClan Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Hi There I am relatively new to geocaching (only have 20 under my belt) I have recently come across a local cache which consists of a riddle that I need to solve in order to find it. Am I alllowed to ask on here if anyone else has had any lucky or whether or not someone can help us with the riddle?? The cache has been there for nearly four years and it would seem hardly anyone has found it!! Looking forward to getting some help so I can finally get some sleep!!! Coxandclan Quote

Coxandclan Welcome to the sport/game/addiction - it's too late now! Rather than ask for help on here, where everyone will be able to see the answers, I would contact the cache owner and then it is up to him how much help he wants to give on his cache. +sssss Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 the other option is send a message to other finders, if people ask me then i will give them as many pointers as they need Quote
The Blorenges Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Welcome to this Forum, CoxandClan I think it's usually best to contact the cache owner for assistance with a puzzle cache. I think it's also a good idea to tell them what ideas you've had for solving it, or what methods you've tried out so they know you have actually tried to work on it a bit. Most owners are sympathetic and will give you a "nudge" to get you thinking in the right direction, especially as you're fairly new to Geocaching. Good luck! MrsB Quote
rutson Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I think setting hard puzzles is despicable behaviour Quote

CoxandClan Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 Ok, thanks folks. I shall ask them what is going on in their twisted minds that this riddle seemed to make sense to them It took the last person a year to solve it - I am on a mission to beat that!! Quote
wigglesworth Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 We often think that there needs to be more than one hint associated with a cache. We have seen several mutli's where you get a seperate hint for each stage. Excellent The next step though is to have more hints for completing the puzzle. Perhaps a series of hints giving stronger and stronger clues for puzzles needs to be developed but how would they be controlled? Peter Quote

MBFace Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I think it's safe to say that the cache merits its D4.5 rating . MBF Quote
Bear and Ragged Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Is it ok for me to say which one it is? Not too difficult to work out which cache it is, if it's the one near to where you've found most of your caches! Quote
Jango & Boba Fett Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 This cache can't be that hard otherwise it would not have taken the Thunderbird30 and HighlandNick only 48 hours to find it. Quote
CoxandClan Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 Fair point!! I am investing in sleeping tablets now! Quote
