+scoutboy Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 We are in the final stages of producing a geoscouting coin. I am posting the artwork as we have yet to receive our samples. It will be trackable with a custom icon. Let me know what you think? -scoutboy Quote
ATMouse Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Clean, stylish...I like it. Have you thought of a shade darker for the gold/tan on the back? It would make it pop a bit more against that white. Or make it glitter gold? Hard or soft enamel? Quote

I would definitely buy one if I had the money! Quote
+RebelJedi Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Nice coin. Depending on price, I just might have to get some for my Cubs. It'll give them something to work for. Quote
+Frank n Beck Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Nice design idea, very clean. Love to get a couple of these for sure, as Scouting introduced us to geocaching. Quote
+backhiker Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Nice. Just checked out the website. My son is starting a new venture crew that will be using high terrain geocaches as part of their program, sent them the link. Scouting magazine had an article about geocaching this month (May/June issue). Scouting Article Quote
+AtlantaGal Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Very nice. Hard enamel would be nice as well. Quote
Flying Spaghetti Monster Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Looking at your profile and seeing that you are a scout(er), I assume you've already contacted the BSA for permission if you are using any of their images. I only bring this up as we've seen a few scout-related coins that have run into issues and apparently the BSA are very protective of their trademarks. Others can speak more to this than I can, but it's food for thought if you haven't done this yet. Quote
+Mama Cache Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Great job! These coins turned out spectacular. I don't think this is coin will have the issues of the others. It is a completly different program. And the art is unique to Geoscouting. Quote
+amagrud Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Very Nice! You know I want a bunch! For those that did not know, the article in Scouting magazine is about ScoutBoy and his group. Good article, and the course at Philmont is even better! Quote

That is why we have not used any BSA trademarks. We are free of any licensing charges with this coin. We work very closely with BSA national and they love our program and have asked us to add it to their supplemental trainings, National Training Center cirriculum and other program Jamborees and seminars... +scoutboy Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 We are waiting for samples to see how the color scheme works out in practice. I believe it will be good the way it is. We are considering both Soft and Hard enamals. We may end up with a soft enamel with an epoxy coating and a couple of hard enamal finishes. We are going to try to keep these at a reasonable price so stay tuned. The custom icon will be the front side round image of the Eagle over Flag. Quote
+0R0B0RUS Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Hello Scoutboy! Was very excited when I saw the artwork on your website. You and Mousewiz have been doing a super job promoting geocaching. Do you think this will be done by summer camp? We are running a geocaching program at Camp Wolfeboro this summer and it would make a nifty FTF prize. BTW, great article in Scouting Magazine. Quote

We are trying to get them done by Geowoodstock. However, it seems there are many coins trying to do the same thing. So the pipeline may be a bit slow. However, we should have these by June at the latest. More details early next week. Quote
+Little'n Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Great coin! Our older son is already a scout and our younger son is eager to be old enough to become a scout in a year. We'll be interested in these coins too. Quote
+TeamEccs21 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Nice looking coin. We hope you will keep us in mind for a trade when they get in. Just FYI...great article in Scouting magazine. We have added your Geoscouting button to our profile page. Quote

+scoutboy Posted August 24, 2008 Author Posted August 24, 2008 Wow! This has taken a long time but we finally have these coins available. We have had a very busy summer with Scouting Leadership Courses and a 110 mile Philmont trek thown in, we have had barely time to get these coins ready for sale. Anyway they turned out quite nicely and think they will go quickly. It also has a custom icon We hope you like them. All proceeds from these coin sales go to support our Geoscouting efforts. Quote
+Little'n Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 (edited) The coin looks great! Looking forward to getting a couple of these for my boys. They'll be especially excited to have a coin they can keep and a duplicate to set out in a cache. Thanks! Edited August 24, 2008 by Little'n Quote
