+GOT GPS?
I found an interesting video> One of these will fail the GPS test: * Satmap Active 10 * Magellan eXplorist 600 * Garmin Colorado 300 The Video quality is low, but it is interesting to watch. Quote Link to comment
+Icebreaker
Interesting. But kinda makes me wonder.... A UK made GPS beats US made GPSs on a UK show. Is the CO 300 really THAT bad??? Quote Link to comment
+The Hungry Caterpillars
Have had hold of both and yes it is better in some ways but worse in others. Entering coordinates on the 300 takes forever with the scroll wheel. Think that the shortcomings with the 300 and 400 are down to a hasty release. Have used the 300 for over a month and still find myself missing many of the 60csx features. I really feel like a beta tester for this gps . I suspect there are both hardware and firmware problems that need sorting. I would suggest anybody wait for at least a few months to see whether or not this model is ever going to make the grade. +vw_k
Has anyone been using the Satmap for geocaching? Is it any good? I like the ability to have OS maps on screen but so far havent seen any screen shots with "go to" arrows like Etrex's have, does the Satmap have this feature? Quote Link to comment

I thought Garmin also had OS maps for the Oregon’s or Colorado’s. Quote Link to comment
+Red90
Obviously they have old firmware on the CO and he knows not how to use it. Entering coordinates is no slower than any other GPS. I do it all the time with other people doing the same with their units and I don't take any longer. Quote Link to comment
+Tequila
Coordinate entry on the Oregon is light years faster than the Colorado. The entire keyboard is on a single screen. No scrolling back and forth. Quote Link to comment

It is troubling that I have to defend the highly flawed Colorado: But the limey with the CO was clueless. It appears that he was trying to use the compass mode; it you don't calibrate the dadgum thing and hold it absolutely horizontal the compass will point just about anywhere! Of course, if Garmin had seen fit to use a 3-axis compass on the overpriced 300 (Magellan managed to do this right), the clueless one would have had to find a different way to get lost. I have just seen this programe, and I think it would have been a better test if all the presenters used all three gpsr, that way it would eliminate any user problems. Keep caching.
