I have had a few GC gone missing instead of keeping them why don't people photograph them and then release them. It amazes me how far some of these trackables have travelled.

Thanks for the replies guys, it will come a time when people will not send trackables out any more, which would be a shame. Micro are ok and they do make caching a little more tasking, but please remember the kids do like to find a box with toys and trackables in, my granddaughter loves it. Two days left of our holiday so out caching we will go.

We have visited 5 caches in the last couple of days which should all have trackables in, but all have been found empty. Why do people not log their finds? We where hoping to find about 6 trackables and take from Norfolk to our trackable exchange in Cornwall, we are very, very disappointed.

I agree with what has been said about wet logs and the weather for 2012 could the log be replace with a code that is kept in the cache maybe, I know that this would be difficult for the nano but I have found it is them that have the wet logs. What do you think? Steve

The Gadget show was testing some so called tuff pieces of equipment and one of these gadgets was an Oregon, it kept passing all the tests and the only way that they could stop it was to shoot it with a 12 bore shotgun. The winner of the challenge was a memory stick, but I can't recall the make of it, so there may be a chance that it will work if recovered pretty quickly.

And they never logged it either.

At present one of my caches is a micro 35mm film pot, can I change this container for a larger one and edit the web page? I would like to make it into a bug hotel if possible, but I cannot find out any rules etc on Groundspeak's site about hotels. Any information would be great. Thanks.

Why not try an electronic magazine in pdf format, so that people can see what it would look like and if people wanted to have a hard copy, then they could print a copy off to take with them when waiting for the kids etc. Give it a 6 month trial and I would expect that you would have enough feedback to say that you are either going into print or not.

Are there any Travelodges caches out there like the motorway and rail stations?

We have had a TB go missing, it was picked up by a German chap and taken over there about 6 months ago. I have emailed him but he has not answered yet. At what stage should I declare it missing? this is our first to go awol.

I am not sure if you know that the Royal Parks has it's own police force, maybe if you tried to get them on your side by talking to a senior officer and say that you will keep the police aware of all caches placed and give them the location. With regards to public ceremonies, the police do go into the parks and conduct a search before hand and it would be a great if they knew where any caches where laid. Also you could say to the police that with geocaches there are many more sets of eyes and if any cacher sees any thing un toward they will report it. Just a thought.

What's with all the chevrons & dashes? Doesn't that make the entries just comments in the file and thus ignored? Just use plain text. As for the first line, do you not want it to say "if FOUND please contact"? Just redone it without the arrows and what not and it works, thanks very much for your help. J

I just opened mine from \Garmin in notepad, edited it, and hit save when I'd finished....not sure about the UTF-8 bit. What does yours read when you open it? Nothing and I have the latest update from Garmin, the one that you can put custom maps on (not tried that yet). The UTF-8 was in the instructions from Wiki

I have tried to put my details on the booting up screen, but it still will not appear. I have entered it as: <!-- If lost please contact --> <!-- my name and mobile number --> <!-- or my email address --> I have saved it and under encoding selected UTF-8 as instructed. Can anyone tell me where I have gone wrong.

I can't see on what grounds the police could arrest you. As far as I know the only offence that could be used in taking a photo is that of taking a photograph in a prohibited place under the official secrets act.

Thanks for the reply. All the other scripts work, but not the maps. I will try different solutions and if any of them work I will let you know, but I am not holding my breath

Did you ever get the OS maps back? I am having the same problem since my laptop went down and I am now using our desktop.

Is the Camong and Caravan club magazine? if it is then only their members get a copy. I am waiting for my copy to arrive.

It looks like our cache at eden has been muggled, we hope to replace it next week.

I found an electric fence a couple of weeks ago in Modbury, I had to duck under in two places, the only sign it was electric was at the style there was a plastic casing on the wire, but the other end there was no sign and I only just managed to see it in time.

I would clip it to me belt loop, but I think my belly would get in the way!!

I bought an oregon a couple of months ago and i really love it except for one thing and that is when I use the carabinner or a lanyard the oregon hangs from the top of the gpsr and to read it you have to twist it around. What I would like know is, am I putting the clip on the wrong way. It is frustrating as it is easier to just carry it in my hand. Steve
