CacheNCarryMA
I just checked the Super Bowl box score on the NFL website. Apparently, Eli Manning is going to pass for 599 yards and Lawrence Maroney is going to gain 244 yards! edit: The posted stats were totals for playoff games. CacheNCarryMA
Here are some tips to help those who aren't familiar with NFL football make a reasonable prediction of the Super Bowl score. These are the averages from the 16 game regular season (September-December). Teams that advance to the playoffs play 3 or 4 games during January. The Super Bowl is played during the first week of February. New England Patriots Average Points Scored Per Game: 36.8 Average Points Scored By Opponents: 17.1 Average Yards Passing Per Game: 295.7 New York Giants Average Points Scored Per Game: 23.3 Average Points Scored By Opponents: 21.9 Average Yards Passing By Opponents: 207.3 This year, the Patriots set several NFL records, including total points scored over the season, total touchdowns thrown by a quarterback, and total touchdowns caught by a receiver. They were undefeated this year (18 wins, 0 losses). In the first half of the season, they averaged nearly 40 points per game and won most of the games by 21 points or more. In the second half of the season and the playoffs, they scored less and won by smaller margins. Some say the decrease was due to the New England weather or that opponents started to "figure out" the Patriots. The Super Bowl will be played in Arizona, in a stadium with a retractable roof. Game time temperatures will likely be 50° to 60°F. The weather will not be a factor in the game. The Giants were the hottest team in the playoffs. This season, they set a record, by winning 10 straight road games. They will be the designated "away team" in the Super Bowl. Their quarterback, Eli Manning, has been playing very well in the playoffs -- arguably the best QB in the league, during the playoffs. The Patriots and Giants faced each other during the last week of the season (Dec 29, 2007) and the Patriots won 38-35. In the NFL, touchdowns (carrying/catching the ball in the endzone) count for 7 points (6 point touchdown, plus 1 extra point kick), field goals are worth 3 points. If a team doesn't advance the ball all the way to the endzone for a touchdown, it will "settle" for kicking a field goal. 95% of the time, the final score is some multiple of 3 plus a multiple of 7 (it is rare, but there may be missed extra points or scoring chances worth 2 points). Usually, a team will score (touchdown or field goal) between three and six or seven times in a game. Good luck to all you Aussie, Kiwi, and Euro cachers (and American cachers who will be watching PBS during the Super Bowl)! Edited January 31, 2008 by CacheNCarryMA Quote Link to comment

CacheNCarryMA
Good i be lucky How many hours takes the super bowl game? Wich hour on sunday they must play?? People who do not know the game just make up a story, it is fun to play.(i have never seen superbowl eather } Good luck to you all. An American professional football game takes about three hours. The official scoreboard time is 1 hour (four 15 minute quarters), but the elapsed time is much longer due to the fact that the official clock is stopped when the ball goes out of bounds and for time outs. This is similar to the way a 90 minute soccer/futbol game actually takes about 95 minutes, but Americans have to overdo everything and also allow for commercialism. The Super Bowl starts on Feb 3, 2008 at 18:00 Eastern Standard Time. Quote Link to comment

CacheNCarryMA
Bump ...and an interesting Super Bowl video. The field on which the game will be played is real grass - not artificial. The grass is grown in sections inside a shallow box (made of concrete, I think). The entire field rides on rails, and is moved outside the stadium periodically, so that it can be watered and can receive more sunlight. VIDEO: Moving a football field. Quote Link to comment

Of course I figured Brady's yardage with him being KO'd in the 3rd quarter to hold him & the score down, but I'll settle . Got my son mad at me (cause he thought I was jinxing the Gints) when the Pats started their last drive and I explained that I could have a perfect guess if NE kicked a FG to send into OT @ 17 and the Giants returned OT kickoff for TD. Don't think either of us coulda took that much nervousness... Quote Link to comment
