+OB1kenOB Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I've recently aquired a GPS unit and am enjoying geocaching. found one close to the house, one close to the office, and one at the lake where I fish. Just wanted to share that on the walk home from work today, at a park near downtown I found 4 plump morrells at 36 22 29.12 N 94 13 00.54 W Quote
+bobbarley Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I could use some. I am woefully short of morals. Oh....nevermind. Quote
+zoltig Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 mmmmm it has been years since I have tasted morrells. Why did you have to bring this up? Now I'll be thinking about it. Quote
+Dgwphotos Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I personally would not touch them. "Commander Cody, the time has come. Execute Order 66". " Yes, My lord." Quote
+Vinny & Sue Team Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I love morels. Some pop up every year sometime in late April or early to mid-May in the wilderness forest just across the street from our home, about 0.43 miles WSW of our Sitting and Waiting cache. However, if you are hunting morels, you just gotta be sure that you actually get real morels, rather than false morels, aka species in the Gyromitra genus, which contain large amounts of monomethylhydrazine (rocket fuel.) +Vinny & Sue Team Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Aren't Morrells a brand of hiking boot? Brian, you have questionable morrells. Quote
+Poidawg Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 It is very east to spot the difference between False Morrells and real Morrells, they are some of the easiest of all mushrooms to ID Quote
+yumitori Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 We found a couple dozen morels at a cache location a few years back. Since our special birthday weekend geocaching camping trip for Peggy was getting seriously rained out, we decided to stay at a hotel instead and cooked our dinners in the room over my backpacking stove. The sauteed mushrooms were a most excellent and memorable addition to our meal. Sadly, the spot was too far from home to re-visit. Quote

But, it is also true that many overeager people confuse the two and eat the Gyromitra spp.! Quote
+Woodbutcher68 Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Aren't Morrells a brand of hiking boot? If you cook morels wrong, they can taste like Merrills! Quote
+1stimestar Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Aren't Morrells a brand of hiking boot? If you cook morels wrong, they can taste like Merrills! Or Sorrells. Quote
+Colorado Cacher Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I have yet to find any morals in, near, at a cache. Quote
+Shorelander Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 If anyone's interested in morels, there's a discussion going on here. Quote
TinyMoon & The Pumpkin King Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Our neck of the woods had a cache dedicated to this very subject... GC90C (Mushroomer's Delight) by Anton, one of our area's original cachers Quote
