Lately I've noticed people choose to put hint information in their logs... "grate cache"  it's, duh, on a basement grate on an old building.

I'm too lazy to decrypt hints in the field. They're on my print out. After searching a bit, I will resort to them. Sometimes they're useful; sometimes not.

What I find frustrating is the ones that do not have hints. After an hour of searching, we just have to give up. Oh, well.

Rarely. I like the sport of going everywhere the cache isnt. Thorns are my friend!

Ticks are a big problem where I cache. I like to get in and get out and not spend time traipsing through bushes and grasses where they hang out. So I use hints early and frequently.

I use hints all the time especially in an area where my gpsr acts up in has me running in circle and also read logs of other cachers to see what to expect or the kind of problems their having

If I think I need help I'll definitely use the hint. (I'm new so I tend to need it more often than not. )

 

I use a Palm Vx and, although I don't use Cachemate, I do use Plucker. The web pages load into the Palm nicely with the hint still encrypted. If I want to read it I can just tap on it to decrypt it there in the field.

I've found that caches that I need the hints for don't have them.
