Jumbo Village
Hi guys, I am looking to create a DVD with members movies and was hoping people could post links to MPEGs/WMV's etc of theirs or others Geocaching exploits. I've just started with Stu's "Red Rag to a Bull"! I'll collect them all together and start putting them in Geocaches for others to enjoy. Good idea or not? Can't do any harm can it?! Cheers Richard Quote Link to comment
Nediam
Top idea! Unfortunately I ain't got any , but I hope your project goes well. It might be worth contacting Geocaching Today online magazine as they might get you a bit more coverage, as not everyone uses the forums. Quote Link to comment
+Bill D (wwh)
It sounds like a very good idea! Do bear in mind though that other people's movies are copyright, so if you find ones that haven't actually been offered ask first. I'll look forward to finding a copy in a cache near me! Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
I have a few on my caching web page, link in that little blue text, below. The one of me setting "I AM NOT A NUMBER..." is a bit of a spoiler, and low res, but quite funny, if I say so myself. The MISSING CACHER one is also a spoiler, but entertaining. Anyway, have a look and help yourself. Any chance of labelling the spoilers on the DVD as such? Maybe do a VCD version as a swap or sig item too? SP Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Thanks Paul, I know you're good at the movies so i'll grab what I can! The "countryfile.mpg" link doesn't work though, and I'd really love that! Thanks Richard Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
I was told it would be ok to upload the file by email, but was also asked to wait for the official letter saying I could. That was 2 months ago... I'll let the forum know when I bet bored of waiting and just upload it (with BBC copyright notice) some time soon. SP Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Thanks Paul, I guess I'll have to wait! Any more for any more? Links to anything would be useful! Quote Link to comment
+The Hokesters
There are Dave Ulmer's "First Cache Stash" videos HERE. There is also a German language video following Irish Geocachers Klause23, Donnacha and friends which can be found by clicking on the PRESS button HERE. Good idea Jumbo! Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Thanks. I'll be using that one. Surely you guys must have some more? Quote Link to comment
+The Hokesters
You might want to ask on the US forums. There may be some other landmark vids that you could use although I doubt you want to flood your DVD with UScentric vids. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Does nobody (apart from Paul ) have any mpegs they'd like me to add? I've found some 20 minute beginners video, but I thought that might be a bit like teaching my Granny how to use a walking stick! Cheers all Richard Quote Link to comment
+stu_and_sarah
It might be a good idea to ask anyone whose video you want to include before doing so. I've had one request for my video already, and I was more than happy to say yes. However, if I found this on a DVD in a cache, I'd be a little grumpy. So, I guess asking permission first would be a good idea. Cheers, Stu Quote Link to comment
+The Hokesters
However, if I found this on a DVD in a cache, I'd be a little grumpy. I thought you were always a little grumpy Quote Link to comment
+stu_and_sarah
I thought you were always a little grumpy Well, I've got a reputation to keep up, then, haven't I? Go on, use the video if you like (not for profit, obviously), but do make sure you ask others... Cheers, Stu Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Go on, use the video if you like (not for profit, obviously), but do make sure you ask others... Thanks Stu, I would always ask permission first (hence this thread). I do work in the media arena, so I'm fully aware of how people can get funny about the littlest things! Could you send me the link to your movie please. I may have missed the link somewhere. Thanks Richard Quote Link to comment

+derrylynne
Hey that was good. We really enjoyed this clip and it gave us a laugh. Can't wait for more. Sorry we don't have any ourselves, although will have to take the video out with us sometime and see what we can do... Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
I did film this while caching (Dan, Pid & Anna's Paddle At The Abbey) but it's not really a caching video. Interesting though: http://www.snapsandbytes.co.uk/closecall.mpg SP Quote Link to comment

NickPick
That would have been an expensive end to a dv camera if the wind had caught it a bit more! Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
It was actually shot with my Fujifilm S5000 digital camera, in movie mode. It was quite safe, even though it swivelled on the sleeper at the end. For the record, I wasn't holding it at the time SP Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Right you lot, get back on topic! I keep getting notifications that a new reply has been added, only to find you rabble sledging each other! MOVIES PLEASE ! Quote Link to comment
NickPick
How do you get notified when there's a new post? I've never noticed that feature before! Sorry Quote Link to comment

The correct link for the DivX file is here. It's 20MG - so don't try this on dialup! And there's still no 'e' in Klaus Quote Link to comment

+Simply Paul
I've uploaded the two dodgy-quality video clips from Countryfile to my web site: Countryfile.mpg: 41.7Mb / 266 seconds. Countryfile.wmv: 3.2Mb / 266 seconds. Jumbo, you're free to use these on your VCD/DVD, but please leave the copyright info in place. I HAVE received the ok to upload these to my site from the BBC in an email, but I'm not sure where we stand on DVD. The quality has been kept low to avoid any issues - hopefully! +lordelph
I'll be working on a video documenting the "Quest for the Ring of Power" cache this week which should be amusing. I'll post a link when it's done. Quote Link to comment
Jumbo Village
Excellent excellet... But I've just put the TB out there! Erm... I may see if it's moved yet and grab it quick and replace. Oooh, you lot are like buses. Nothing for ages, then two at once! Cheers Richard Quote Link to comment
