+Team HHD1
I've yet to look for one in the dark and it never occured to me that someone would do this until I noticed a few posts about it... Quote Link to comment
+TheAlabamaRambler
Yes, I do prefer night caching, especially in the summer! Much more comfortable! We often night cache in groups, making it all the more fun. Many are the days when we've cached all day, stopped for dinner, and were still caching when the sun came up again! My cache bag contains 10 rechargeable AA and 15 AAA batteries, three headlamps, three hand-lamps and four FRS radios in case whoever I am with doesn't have night-caching gear! Quote Link to comment
+sept1c_tank
Night caching is good; it's all good! Quote Link to comment
+GRANPA ALEX
Ditto to ALA Rambler . . . cooler, quieter, peaceful - sooo nice at night. Have done the 24-hour runs, but mostly only up to 18 hour runs. Seem to even find the caches easier at night, weird this - but lots of fun! GA Quote Link to comment
+Ed & Julie
There are a lot fewer onlookers in the evening and night. Urban caches can be easier since you don't have to worry about muggles all around. Personally, I have enough trouble finding caches during the day. The few I have found at night have been by plain dumb luck. Ed Quote Link to comment
+carleenp
Since I have some issues with night blindness, I don't night cache much. It has been interesting when I have though. Quote Link to comment
+Moose Mob
Night caching is a blast. It also gives you more opportunities to introduce geocaching to the local authorities! Quote Link to comment
nobby.nobbs
sorry never seen the interest. i cache to enjoy the views and visiting new places. i'd not try to stop anyone from doing it (assuming it doesn't break local rules) just never saw the attraction myself. Quote Link to comment
+JohnnyVegas
Doing a night search may be needed to get a FTF in some areas, then there are caches the require a ight search After hours cache Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
It can help you find the cache, it's fun with the group you go with. But you do miss the scenery, and the strangest people come out to play at night. That's not always good. Quote Link to comment
nobby.nobbs
don't get me wrong if someone designed a local night time cache to me i'll go do it. and i've grabbed a ftf at 5:00am before now! just that if it's a normal cache with a good walk/ good views etc then i'll do it during the day. it's like i don't do 20 in a day. partly because chronic fatigue stops me but partly because at that speed you can't enjoy the scenery. +Moose Mob
Night caching is pretty much dependant on the situation. - Doing a night hike in the desert under a full moon. That gives a whole new perspective on the scenery. - Wandering through the city at 2:00 am with 2 or 3 other people can be a blast, no traffic, and those wally world light post micros have a whole new meaning. Sure, yuo do need to be cautious of certain parts of certain cities. But if you pick a good place, it's a blast. Quote Link to comment
+New England n00b
There's a few night caches in my area. The one I've done had an intentional 'creepy' factor built into it. It was a blast! There's another one I want to do, but I'm not sure if it is still around. I'll have to check. I don't think I'd go night-caching a plain old cache, but if it is themed, I definitely would. A good night-themed cache can be fun... Quote Link to comment
