+MarkGPX
Has anyone managed to get permission to place caches on (non-operational) MoD property? I'm just going through the hoops and I wondered if there were any already in place that I could mention. MarkGPX Quote Link to comment
Big Black Bunny
The GC rules say this “Caches near or on military installations” are not permitted. Does MOD ground count as an installation? How near is near? Be careful what you pick up while on MOD property. I am sure this cache is on MOD controlled land, GCHKZQ beacon hill, as you have to pass a red flag and list of MOD bylaws to get to it. You try contacting the owners to see what information they might have. Good Luck with your quest. Quote Link to comment
+M3ZPY
Dont put one on Mickle Fell as you have to get permission just to walk on this beautifull baren beck and heather filled piece of land from the landowner and ensure the MOD are not messing with their ammo nearby. So it is doubly private! Quote Link to comment

How near is near? Be careful what you pick up while on MOD property. It's on a public footpath next to a site that hasn't been active for nearly 60 years and contains no buildings, so I don't think it could be classed as an "installation". You try contacting the owners to see what information they might have. Good Luck with your quest. The parish council say it still belongs to the MoD, I just need to find out which bit of the MoD! +Team Ullium
This one by Chumster takes some beating as you have to break into it through a heavy wire netted fence ... see the Barton Bunker Ullium. Edited October 21, 2004 by Ullium Quote Link to comment
Leoness
Can you be a bit more specific as I know a few people who work at the MoD who might be able to help you? Quote Link to comment

+Sue and Bernie
I know of one cache placed on MOD property: South Cyprus Stash by Helodriver (GCE878) ...because I found it while working on the base area earlier this summer. Quote Link to comment
+MarkGPX
If its a Training Area try Defence Estates Funnily enough, although it's not a training area, it is managed by Defence Estates but not any of the offices mentioned on the website! I know of one cache placed on MOD property: South Cyprus Stash by Helodriver (GCE878) ...because I found it while working on the base area earlier this summer. That could be a useful reference as the area is still classed as an RAF base! Negotiations are ongoing... Quote Link to comment
+keehotee
...and not all MoD property is Military. I'm trying to get one approved (by Met Office Health Safety and Security) at the Met Office in Exeter, as the public are welcome to enter the grounds. Quote Link to comment
+aRRKS
Spotted this one this recently in Gloucestershire, it must be quite an old cache judging by the waypoint - GCHQ. Quote Link to comment
