Meeting other Geocachers

Newbie question here, Is there a code of conduct or a ritual I should follow when I meet another Geocacher in-route? Special handhake? Do we press a GPSr to eachother's forehead?

Newbies generally have to hand out $20 bills to every other geocacher they meet for the first year.

Not really. Some people like to be left alone, some don't mind if you join in and help them look for the cache.

 

When in doubt ask.

 

Some won't recogzine that you are different from a muggle and act all funny while they hope you go away so they can get back to finding the cache.

We typically 'flash' our GPSr at the other folks. Usually works just fine. After you've been out awhile you'll start recognizing names and it'll be a bit of a thrill to actually meet the folks you know only from log entries.
