coast2coast2coast
Yesterday While Caching in heavy rain and under tree cover my GPSr actually showed this.... READY TO NAVIGATE ACCURACY: 120 METERS Has any one ever seen worst? Quote Link to comment
leatherman
I don't know how many meters it was. I was in Eugene Oregon once and for nearly an hour my GPSr said I was in Vietnam!? Quote Link to comment
Night Stalker
My worst was over a mile off, but I don't think it was due to GPS inaccuracy as much as the cache hider reversing a couple of numbers. The only way we found this cache is because another cacher had somehow found this cache and left corrected coordinates. Quote Link to comment

Sparky-Watts
I once had my GPSr tell me I was in a totally different galaxy....so I bought a Garmin, and have been within 14 ft ever since! Quote Link to comment
Johnnie Stalkers
Not sure but since the 60cs came out our cobra it has been screwing up alot. Think it is trying to tell Ani, uh I mean me something. Edited March 28, 2004 by Johnnie Stalkers Quote Link to comment
blindleader
It's impossible to say exactly what the accuracy of a fix is unless you are at a known point whose coordinates you can compare the reading to. That said. I've had EPE in the 220 to 280 foot range for more than fifteen minutes while caching, but the fixes agreed pretty well with those taken when EPE got back down under forty feet. I've also had error that was so bad that I knew how bad it really was. The fix was four and a half miles from where I knew I was. I suspect multi-path interference was the culprit, as the site was hemmed in by an elevated highway and foothills. Quote Link to comment
briansnat
Mine once told me I was 400 miles away in West Virginia, when I was actually in NJ. Quote Link to comment
RichardMoore
According to my unit, I was in Brazil. At the time I'm pretty sure I was in northern Ohio. But my GPSr wouldn't lie to me. Would it? Oh, yeah, it'll play little tricks on me. First it will say that I'm 30 feet away, then 96 feet away, then 16 feet in another direction, all without me moving an inch. Sometimes it will say that I'm 20 feet away, +/- 185 feet. Then I swear that I hear it laughing at me. Quote Link to comment
RichardMoore
I once had my GPSr tell me I was in a totally different galaxy.... There is nothing wrong with being in a different galaxy. I spend a lot of time in my own little part of the universe. Quote Link to comment

TeamK-9
I guess this is nothing compared to some of you guys who have had it said you were in a different cuontry, but today, I was sitting right on top of a cache's hiding place, signing the log, under blue skies and no trees, and it tells me I'm .10 miles away.... +Johnnie Stalkers
Seems to be something going on today. Lets see what the "daily excuse" rolodex says <Flip> Ohh boy it is a good one, Solar Flares. Hopefully some of the smart science people can answer this one for us. Quote Link to comment
TeamK-9
The main site has been running a little bit slow too... Could solar flares have caused it? Quote Link to comment
Johnnie Stalkers
Clearly this is a conspiracy by 'the man' to inhibit our enjoyment of Spring. Everyone wearing their foil hats. I have mine on and I must say that it is dashing. If cooper can cure your golf swing then aluminum can cure migraines. Right? RIGHT?!?!?! Quote Link to comment

crzycrzy
The other day I was searching for a cache and it got absolutely no reception at all. Does that count ? In the few times it did, it was 100 feet or more accuracy. I gave up. Quote Link to comment
