+Insp Gadget
Is there any way to speed up the transfer of maps to the Garmin V? Currently, it takes 5 to 8 hours to transfer 15mb or more of maps, which is totally unacceptable. Quote Link to comment
kb9nvh
better check your connections speed and protocals. 19meg download in about 30 to 40 minutes on mine.. Quote Link to comment
+KYtrex
Yep, something ain't right:(. I don't think mine has ever taken longer than 40 minutes, and that's pushing the 19 megs. Quote Link to comment
+Cornix
Looks like the baud rate of your unit (or your software) is set to 4800. The maximum baud rate is 115200 which is 24 times faster. Cornix Quote Link to comment

+Sparky-Watts
Don't know much about the V, but on my Legend, 8meg takes about 30 seconds....... Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
When you power up the GPS V, and put it in simulator mode(GPS receiver off), hit menu button 4 times and select Restore Defaults. Mapsource should be set to 115200 baud rate, in the save to gps window. You could try that GPS on another computer, if it continues to be slow. Edited December 23, 2003 by GOT GPS?
