+Tsegi Mike and Desert Viking
Clear acrylic? You mean like Krylon? Or some thing else? I'm putting together a couple of these and would like to shamelessly borrow your hard work (if that's okay). ********* Till a voice, as bad as Conscience, rang interminable changes On one everlasting Whisper day and night repeated -- so: "Something hidden. +NimravusHSSR
Hi, there are spray paint clear coat that works well. The Plasti-Kote Exterior Clear Topcoat spray paint seems to be holding up fine. I've had my UV Sprayed rock outside in my backyard for about a week now and it still shines up at night under UV Light. I'm just experimenting with different clearcoat to see which one lasts longer and looks natural. The only problem is that the person finding the cache will have to use a UV flashlight so they can find their way. A cheapy one probably won't shine very far. My concern was the same as the topic here if anyone would spend money on a decent UV flashlight. [This message was edited by FlashMaster on June 16, 2003 at 10:01 AM.] Quote Link to comment
+Tsegi Mike and Desert Viking
I think they would, or they could go out in groups or borrow each other's flashlights. The geocachers in our area all seem to know each other enough to do so. Now that my hip injury has finally healed enough, we will be placing these caches soon. (The injury was not incurred while geocaching.) *********** Till a voice, as bad as Conscience, rang interminable changes On one everlasting Whisper day and night repeated -- so: "Something hidden. motoXman
I most certainly would, sounds like fun. besides, you never know what other uses you might come up with for the light. Heck, I once bought a GPSr for navigating around the back country and discovered it could be also used for a really cool game called "geocaching" LOL someday we'll look back on all this and plow into a parked car. MOCKBA
quote:Originally posted by BeDoggy:Why not make it a multicache with a blacklight in the first container? It's really interesting to search old threads sometimes. I've put together a multi of this kind back in May. And it wasn't even a night cache. Hint: you can find rather cool places which stay dark during the day. Could you please post (or e-mail me) what local cache you mentioned? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
This thread isn't THAT old! I still don't have a portable blacklight, though Took sun from sky, left world in eternal darkness Quote Link to comment
SLCDave
If you want to hunt geodes, thet will glow under a black light as well. There is a dry river bed in my state that has quite a few in it, so I have heard. I would buy one, probably. +Brian - Team A.I.
I bought one, and have successfully found every black light cache that has been placed around the valley by a local cacher. Each one provided it's own unique challenge, and some required vague hints from other cachers to find. They've been my favorite series of all. October 18th, blacklight caching is being expanded in a major way.... Brian Team A.I. Quote Link to comment
