+camp637
How's this for an unusual idea . Combine geocaching with a garage sale. You give out the coordinates to your abode, and then when the cacher arrives, he can take anything , but then he/she also needs to take something from the garage sale. Oviously this still needs some thought, but I was thinking about this the other day, and thought that maybe some others might like to think aout it and perhaps leave some input as well. null Quote Link to comment
+Rebel
Perhaps if Geo searchers get a trinket and a discount? Quote Link to comment
+rdw
I don't think so. First, it would be borderline advertising. This is definitely not geocaching. I think this is the kind of locationless cache that Brokenwing has nightmares about. rdw Quote Link to comment
+mrcpu
I see it as a really big cache container combined with an Event Cache concept! Cool! But the only thing is that you can't sell the stuff in the "container" (Garage). Instead the person who comes must trade something and sign the log book! I have NO problem with having a Garage Cache Event! Neat! (I need a new bike. Where will this be?) Rob Mobile Cache Command Quote Link to comment
+weezer
I like the idea. It is kinda like an event cache. RDW it is advertising, but it is not a commercial cache, therefore I am ok with the idea. After all there is even a section if the forums for selling GPS units. Weezer Quote Link to comment
BassoonPilot
I like the idea, too, and I can't wait to see how long it'll be before someone sets up a MOC garage sale cache . . . Quote Link to comment
+DenaliNW
My wife doesn't much enjoy the geocaching, but she loves scouring the neighborhood for garage sales. She gets her bargains on stuff we don't need, I get some caching in . . . I like it. Quote Link to comment

Perhaps feed into your GPS the coordinates of all the houses in your area that are holding garage sales and let your wife loose..... (There are online programs that give you the coordinates for an address) Quote Link to comment
Jake.Hazelip
If you make it a SWAP meet, like a cache container, I think it'd be a pretty cool little social event for cachers. Bring something too big for a cache container, small enough for a garage, and trade someone. Grill out, BYOB, and have a good time! Quote Link to comment
+Prime Suspect
I'm not sure we really want to open that Pandora's box. Do we really want our cache lists filled up every weekend with new garage sales? And it seems a lot like another cache from a few months ago which was disallowed. It was really just a way to get people out to a BSA jamboree. Quote Link to comment
+camp637
Thanks to everybody for their input. I really didn't expect that much. After all, it was just one of those "what if" that often goes off in my brain. I did learn something from all the replies, however. That is what the forum is all about. Thanks again , all.
