continental drifter
I have been caching for the last eight months and have a modest twenty or so finds.I don't have regular access to a computer(public library)so I have not logged most of my finds. After placing my own cache I realised that its important that people log their finds. My question is do I go back and notify the caches that I have found and guess the date I found it,some over six months ago.Do I use the current date and explain that I am lazy?Or do I not bother at all as too much time has passed.Appreciate the help,Continental Drifter. Dru Morgan
I would suggest logging the find with the date for the day you actually found it, or as close as you can remember. I see that done a lot. Not 6 months later, but I've seen weeks later, for sure. Ever notice how anyone that caches more than you do is a maniac, while anyone that caches less than you do is an idiot? -Dru Morgan Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
Agreed. Guestimate as best you can. Cache owners love to see posts, and dating it back will help keep things accurate. Meaning that if you posted your find with today's date but the last post was a DNF it could make the next cacher think it's there if it's not. Bottom line is to not worry too much about the dates, it's not that important. I just like to read what others have to say. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Those posts are why people place caches. Take your best guess, but more importantly tell a great story or at least a little more than "Took Nothing Left Nothing". Quote Link to comment
umc
If you do it for the numbers like me then log them. Otherwise its not a huge deal because the important log is in the logbook already. There are a fair share of people who only log the physical logbook and not online. I think its most important to log online because like was mentioned its fun for the cache owner to see what people have to say without having to be at the cache. Either way works.
