This is good news.

Does anyone know if they have turned off the "Do Not Use" flag?

My ETrex uses WAAS anyway but I think some Magellan units were ignoring WAAS as long as the "Do Not Use" flag was on.

WAAS GEO Mode is now Normal and broadcasting type 2 message and not Type 0.

I tried WAAS over the weekend but it did not seem to be working any better than before - I've always been able to get a signal since in live in the Southeast.

I turned it on shortly after arriving in Montana, and I was getting great signals with WAAS. That nifty little 'D' was showing up on the 11 sats I had lock on and had my accuracy sitting at 8'. But I've been using it since roughly the 10th or so with WAAS.

I've never really bothered using my GPS V with WAAS enabled until reading this thread. Today I flipped it on while driving home from work (mostly highway, flat and wide open) and found it very interesting. With the V sitting on the dashboard, I was able to get as high as 9 WAAS fixes and accuracy down to 2 metres (less than 7 feet). I noted that although signal strength was very high on each sat, it was very fragile and would kick off when going under any overpasses or travelling through any low lying dips in the topography. The satellite status screen would indicate at best: 3D Differential accuracy 2 metres (9 WAAS sats), then would drop down to 2D diff. acc. 4 metres (3 or 4 sats showing WAAS), and then further to a normal fix reading 3D GPS Location accuracy 6 metres.

I'll probably continue to not have it enabled for regular caching purposes but it was great to see the improved accuracy obtainable whenever I may need it.

Hmmm....I still only get two WAAS birds with my Magellan Meridian Platinum. Anyone else with a Magellan getting more than two WAAS sats?

I was wondering what those (W)s on my sat screen were. I only show two to the west of me, I'm in Chicago. I have not been able to determine if this is giving me better fixes yet.

Just so there is no confusion, there are only 2 WAAS sats, one to the SE and one to the SW, but either one or both can augument the signals of all the other sats, as long as you are within the area of the US.

My best without WAAS is an EPE of about 13ft. With WAAS (and I see two of them now and then on my sat screen with a MAP330), I've had an EPE of 7ft a few times.

Sportrak Color, best is 9 ft, but my Magellan GPS315 got 0 ft EPE yesterday. Dunno how true that was! When it got to 3 I was surprised...

Era seek, thanks for the info, I wondered about that. I get two W's on my screen and that was it. Now I know why. I don't understand WAAS, so I guess I'll do some research.
