+CAVinoGal Posted July 2 Share Posted July 2 (edited) This has been happening with some frequency to me the past couple of weeks, maybe longer. I log in, go to the (new) dashboard, and get only a partial page, no menu, no info. I try to pull up either the browse or the search map, and only get partial pages, no menu. I'm using Windows 11, latest Chrome browser. I have turned off my ad blocker, I have allowed all cookies, and the behavior doesn't change. Is it me? What else can I try? If I persist and keep reloading, sometimes it does work for a time. But it is making it incredibly hard and frustrating to do anything on the website. Thanks for any advice or suggestions! +CCFsmile Posted July 2 Share Posted July 2 Hi there! Just to add my experience: I too use Chrome, though it often happens if I have problems with it then Firefox is ok. But not so much lately. And DEFINITELY over the past week plus, everything seems to load slowly. Some days I can't get caches on a map to load at all. I close everything, wait 10+ minutes, and then that changes. I have had slow page issues (sometimes extreme) on every browser and device I use - that's 4 total I think. Not sure if this is helpful but when my other pages etc are running fast, with no problems, I often see GC running sloooooooooow. Quote Link to comment
+CAVinoGal Posted July 13 Author Share Posted July 13 UPDATE: I switched to Edge, using it for geocaching/forum only, and it seems to work much more smoothly and consistently. Go figure. I was traveling, and using my phone's hotspot, but the behavior was the same when using wifi as well. Switching to Edge improved performance with BOTH the hotspot and the wifi. Now that I have returned home, Edge still seems to work far better than Chrome for geocaching.com and the forums. I still get the blank/halfway loaded pages in Chrome, with ad blocker off and all cookies allowed. :::sigh::: Quote Link to comment

I am trying to reproduce it and I cannot. Can someone confirm this is happening on the mist up-to-date version of Chrome? May I get some repro steps to pass along to the devs? Ex. 1. From the login page again /play/search, I choose View browse map from the Play menu, it will go to https://www.geocaching.com/map/ Occasionally it will tack on my home coordinates and then show the browse map centered on my coordinates, which is the behavior I expect. +CAVinoGal Posted July 30 Author Share Posted July 30 I'm continuing to use Edge for anything geocaching - when I do go back to Chrome I still get pages that seem to load partway and then stop before the main content appears. +Mur_meli Posted August 12 Share Posted August 12 I just tried with chrome and Firefox and neither is working. The header is blank and I'm unable to attach pictures to my logs. At first few attempts went thru, then it started hickuping.. And now it does not work at all. Tried to add with the log at hand, then editing the log, and then opening the log and adding a picture. Yesterday I arrived in the US (St. Louis, Missouri) and suddenly all the same pages are loading super quickly, even those that are usually the worst pain in the a** like the message center and maps views. Obviously using the exact same computer, browsers, settings etc. Might there be a major performance problem with the way the site is set up for access around the world, including in Groundspeak's biggest markets in Europe?! I live in California, and have done nearly all my geocaching logging and computer/browser based stuff right here in the US, and the problem persists. I've now switched to MS Edge for all things geocaching; still use Chrome as my preferred browser but the geocaching site just does not work there. +MrDosinger Posted September 25 Share Posted September 25 Now back in Europe (Berlin, Germany). I cannot confirm that everything is fine using Edge. Maaaybe it's a little better than Chrome, but while everything worked super breezy for the last two weeks between the Midwest and the East Coast of the US, as soon as we hit the ground in Germany the same performance issues returned. All cookies accepted, adblockers off. The only remedy I've found is to delete browsing data EVERY time I visit a cache page. I refresh it, and then it's fine... until I open another cache page.
