Session expired - Need to log in again

Recommended Posts

Same here. Cannot stay logged in for more than 1 to 5 seconds. Android app 9.56.0. Pixel 7 phone. Android 14, system software current through July 5 security update.

Very frustrating, was planning a whole day around geocaching. :-(

Same here!  I cannot use the app at all as it continuously tells me my session has expired and it puts me right back at the login screen.  Got logged in briefly then it dumped me again.  Planning a 2 week trip where we will be out of cell range and need those offline lists!

I experienced this after pushing the Cosmic Quest notification on my phone, just as oceanic815 said.

Same for me. This is frustrating. I log in, then as soon get to the main screen, I get "Expired session"

I last used the app about 2 weeks ago, and it worked fine. Today I wanted to log on, and I get the same error that everyone else here has. I occasionally can get to the map, but then it logs me out. I have cleared data and storage, as well as reinstalled the app. It is totally unusable.

This is still happening to my Android phone, and getting worse.  It just did it to me 8 times in the course of 6 minutes.  It's let me back in now, but I have no confidence it will keep me logged in for long.  It's making the app virtually unusable.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and restarting my phone.   Please, HQ, someone fix this!

Bonjour,

Sur Android, Notification cosmic quest,  j'ouvre l'application et impossible de me connecter. J'ai vidé le cache rien, éteind le tel rien.

Sur le PC pas de problème pour ouvrir, en revanche problème de mise à jour.

I just yesterday acquired a new Android phone and installed the Geocaching app last night. What a relief to know the "authorization expired" predicament I encountered after booting my phone this morning isn't only mine: this'll be resolved by people with know-how and vested interest.

Found this thread searching for a reason why the app suddenly behaves weird. Just to chime in: This started happening to me somewhere in the past half hour or so. Never experienced this before. Been picking up caches / using the app every day without problem for the last two weeks.

Same as others: Login, and immediately got logged out saying my authorisation had expired. The website works fine with the same login details. Would love a fix so that Dad and I can get out on the road for a big cache day out!

Same thing keeps happening to me, the app won't keep me logged in longer than a minute. Doesn't matter which map type I use. Clearing the cache didn't help and reinstalling didn't either. This started just today after clicking on the galaxy quest notification. I guess I'll just have to try to use the browser version for a while but hoping that a fix will be found soon.

Same here. As soon as I open the app (Android), it request to log in. When I enter my credentials, and press the log in button, I get the log in request screen again with the authorisation expired pop up at the bottom.

It is since a few hours.

Add me to the list also. I have been using the app just fine until this morning and got the cosmic quest notification and went to check it out and it logged me out saying authorization has expired. I tried multiple times to log in with no success. I updated the app and same thing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and the same thing. Occasionally I can get as far as seeing a map but as soon as I click on it, it logs me out and it's back to the same loop. I have been on a geocaching mission lately and was needing a cache today but I guess we will have to go old school with looking up on the computer and inputing it in our GPS.

I'm joining the list. I did lots of geocaching yesterday and today. Never had any issues. Just wanted to plan my day tomorrow and I can't log in. I already deleted the app and installed it again. But now I see it's a common issue. Looks like no geocaching for me tomorrow...

It happened to me yet again today - this time I'm out of the country and was using a rather large offline list. I had to wait until we got back to our hotel to download it again.

This issue has been going on for 2 or 3 months. Offline lists worked fine for me for years prior to this Spring. I hope whatever changes brought this about can be resolved.

Same unfortunately. Noticed a couple weeks ago, was a struggle to log in, and after succeed was fine for the last couple weeks with occasional use. Today had issues loading maps, caches, killed the app and that resulted when I opened it again was kicked out. Now takes ages to log in but kicked out almost immediately. Found this thread when was searching for someone having the same issue.

Have latest android 14

Tried deleting cache/app data even deleted and re-installed the app but no difference

Our engineers are aware of the issue and are working on it. Thank you for your patience.

Same issue this morning. Can't log in to the app at all. Went premium this morning, and the issue started almost instantly. Had no trouble before that. Ruined the plans for today. Any sign of a fix or do I cancel the subscription?

Just noticed something interesting with Locus.  I got the now-semi-frequent message about expired credentials, but this time I ignored it, did something else that needed a live connection ... and it worked!

This suggests to me that maybe the problem with the API is a spurious glitch, a temporary condition rather than a permanent-until-fixed one.  And maybe the official "the app" is treating a spurious glitch too seriously, dumping everything in the bin at the first sign of (mild?) trouble.

Just a hunch.  (Yes, I'm trying to diagnose one app by observing another, but they both connect to the same ... thing.  HTH)
