Offline lists are not downloading. It seems to start the process but no data is transferred. Is anybody else experiencing this? Suggestions?

iOS, not just today but for several days …

I use iOS v17.2.1 on my iPhone 15 Plus.  I just refreshed the downloaded data on an existing list, and I also created a brand new list and downloaded the offline data and maps for that list as well.  I then put my phone in airplane mode and tested a newly downloaded cache from the second list.  I had no problem viewing the cache details, or in navigating to the cache with the map displayed.

Thank you for your replies. Apparently, it should work on my iPhone 7 with iOS 15.8 and the Geocaching app version 9.43.0. Anyone listening from Groundspeak to this bug report? Details see my initial post.

Hello @Fobrokel,

Can you please provide screenshots of the issue?

Thanks for your patience. We look forward to hearing back from you.

I do experience the same problem, on 2 different accounts on 3 different phones. 2 Android 12 app version 9.47.1 and 1 iPhone

The strange part is that some lists do download while others fail. A notification appears:  "Download of the list failed. Something went wrong. Please try again"

I now noticed that the failed download is also present for some pocket queries in the app

List Download OK

I did uninstall and reinstall the app but the failed download did still occur.

I had success downloading a small list that I made in the app. However I get a download error when downloading a larger pocket query (Something went wrong, please try again). These PQs used to download just fine.

I'm using the Android app on a Pixel 4a.

Update: I tried creating a large list directly (not a PQ) and downloading it and got the same error. It shouldn't be a storage issue as I have 70GB of space free on my phone. I think something has changed limiting the size or scope of list downloads. I think this represents a major failure for the app given that large swaths of the world are still unavailable for cell service.

Updates on my previous post.

  1.  Small lists (under 200 caches) download successfully regardless of the size of the map.
  2. Large lists (800+ caches) are unsuccessful, even if the map area is small.
  3. I'll keep playing with it to see where the list size cutoff is, but I do feel that in 2024, such size limitations are arbitrary and could be done away with. As I've mentioned before, PQs with 1000 caches in them and a search radius of 100 miles have been successfully downloaded for me in the past. This only makes caching with the phone more difficult while traveling in areas where cell service isn't available or reliable. While I do have a GPS device, it's not my preferred geocaching method anymore for various reasons.

If anyone from HQ is reading this, please pass these concerns on to the engineers.

Hi, I have this problem since August. I have iOS and premium membership. The download will start, but end in 3/4 and never goes to the end.

What can I do?
