+GEO COWBOYS
There are many caches that are "archived" around my area. One that is gone was my granddaughter's favorite. The owner took it out due to traveling. Would it be possible to hide my own in the same exact place? Thanks Quote Link to comment

+GEO COWBOYS
Thank you. Looks liked there are no new ones around it. However, If a brand new one was placed just recently I may not know for a while since premium players get first finds before they show up on the map for basics. I have been looking at the Geo map and see a lot of caches close together under the mile mark. There is one spot I just looked at has 8 caches within a half mile. Quote Link to comment

I think you may be confused about proximity distance. It's 1/10 of a mile (161 metres), not one mile. Quote Link to comment
+GEO COWBOYS
That makes sense. Thank you. That also helps me better when looking to hide caches. Thank you, Quote Link to comment

No? a cache can be made Premium Member Only by its owner, so it won't show up on maps for you. Whether it's found or not doesn't change this. The cache owner might change it from PMO to available to all members at some point. It WILL show up on search - enter your proposed cache coords, and you'll get a list of the nearby caches. This WILL include distance from your proposed cache coords to any PMO caches nearby Let's say you were interested in placing a cache at N 47° 53.689 W 122° 42.550 - this is near some of your finds. Put those coords in Search: https://www.geocaching.com/play/search/@47.894817,-122.709167?origin=++N+47°+53.689+W+122°+42.550 and now you'd know about the PMO cache.... Premium members may have notifications of new caches, telling of a new cache out, something that a basic member doesn't have access to. - But the other 2/3rds was a FTF monster while still basic for a couple months, and simply accessed the area by checking into the site once in a while. In fact (still using a GPSr), the only reason we still have premium membership is for notifications. The only reason you wouldn't see it as a basic member is if it's a premium member only cache.
