  1. Is it ok to change the name of a cache that has been going since 08/04/2011? Or would it cause problems with people that has already logged it? Thanks in advance.
  2. I acquired a non-active GCF Seattle Shark 2018 tag. I understand it can be activated for discovery only. the web address does not exist anymore. is there a way to activate it? thanks in advance
  3. Yes I do let the COs know. I never remove a full or destroyed log when I add a new log. If it's a is a full notebook or a full yellow Geocaching logbook, I don't add anything but let the COs know it needs replacing. I didn't realize being a good Geocacher while helping other Geocachers would offend them.
  4. Thank you for the warning. I will check out Locus Map.
  5. Whew. Thank you. That had me worried that everyone can see it and be rushing toward the location.
  6. Tried to find Cachly in the app store. Is there someplace else i need to look?
  7. My newest irk. This took place a couple Fridays ago. A few friends and I went to Seattle for some new action. non geocaching related since the people I was with were muggles. That evening we ended up at a bar for a drink before catching the last ferry back toward home. We weren't in there more than 15 minutes when a group of guys were talking pretty loud about treasure hunting and one guy was telling the others that there were treasures everywhere for the taking. He boasted how some of them had jewelry, some has coins. He showed his drunk group some of his treasures he recently found. I could not see from where we were sitting of course. He told them a treasure was close by. Soon afterwards they all stumbled outside as the treasure talker lead them. I was thinking at that moment they were going to find that treasure nearby. Does this sound like he found a couple Geocaches? Would this explain why some caches go missing? Maybe even TBs? I don't know if this drunk person was a Geocacher or just got lucky. Maybe he was talking about something altogether.
  8. I carry 50' rope for those steep bluffs we would have to climb down. My partner broke his leg as he tumbled down a steep grade. Since then rope came very useful. If we find a nano/micro placed in a tree where I cannot reach with the step and grabbers It's a DNF. I'm 6'1. I will not touch a tree full of sticky sap. Found a small cache box hid under a sappy tree. The box was sticky all over it. Another DNF.
  9. CO's with caches that has swag really should keep an eye on their caches regularly. Mine, for example is checked one a week. Take out trash. so far no trash in my caches yet. Add new swag when needed, change logbooks if getting full. check the container to make sure it's still in good condition or need replacing. Pick up litter around GZ. However, one of my cache spots really needs a CITO event. My granddaughter is part of my team. She loves to trade swag for swag. Hates micros and empty boxes. So That is why all my caches are child friendly. Safe to get at and has swag. I understand that some CO's has put out swag containers back in say 2000 when Geocaching first started. Their age or health may give them trouble and keeping them from maintaining their caches today. I try to help those COs out by adding new swag, logbooks ect.
  10. That is a good point. Today I bought a heavy duty folding step to keep in my truck for such occasions. It folds flat. Might fit on or in my back pack. I'll have to check to find out.
  11. If been to find caches that was a metal can with a screw top lid. The can was rusted and the lid was rusted shut so we could not open it. Even though we had the container in hand, we couldn't sign a log. We considered it as a DNF. I messaged the CO who hasn't logged on since 2014. We haven't heard back. I have maybe a dozen metal film containers that could be used as micro cashes, but I don't put out Micros. Part of the CO's maintenance on metal containers should keep the screw lids lubricated with something like DW-40 We recently found a micro (Large Hide-a-key) with a disenagrated (sp?) log. We were helpful by replacing a new log without removing the old one. Lucky for us, we had a new one on hand. Otherwise it just may had been a DNF. We let the CO know.
  12. Ok. I see. Never knew that game or site existed. I think I will stick to Geocaching and not play that one.
  13. I like that idea. Of course a "real" bill will vanish. But a play dollar bill that looks almost realistic may work if laminated. Ok. My idea brain cells are working overtime now,
  14. CUBONE has been located in Austria. I am happy to see it has finally appeared. However, I noticed that the person who had him also collected several trackables from the USA and Canada. He then dropped all of them in his own cache. That would be fine but I don't understand how 12 or more trackables can fit in a micro. I don't have premium anymore so I cannot check on it anymore. Getting yearly premium next month hopefully. Das kleine Kirchlein / The itty bitty Church Mystery GCTCY9 A cache by Beutelteufelweibchen Difficulty 2 Terrain 1.5 Size Micro Favorite Points 10
  15. Hey. I found many coins even a few one dollar bills. Once I found a 20 dollar bill. It helps a little on gas. I'd rather see a nickel than a parking lot rock or a dead leaf or stick someone put in. We always swap swag for swag if there is swag to trade. My granddaughter wouldn't have it any other way.
  16. I am looking for 2 unactivated travel tags. 1: Ollie the Orca 2: Jack Skeleton Tried to order from GeoSwag but after putting in my info including credit card, it was denied by PayPal. I do not have a PayPal account. GeoSwag is deceiving about payments.
  17. I hate to bring this up again I found where I can change coordinates on the GPS. My options are Degrees Degrees / Min Degrees / Min / Sec UTM MGRS It does not have DDM format. Unless it's Degrees / Min What option would be best?
  18. Thank ya all for the input. I redid my page and coords. It should be ok. I will soon find out via comments if they are off.
  19. I must apologize for using the - because the cache was gone - in the same sentence. That part was quoted in a email messages he wrote me. Do I really need to add a house number on the page? If so, maybe a huge neon arrow pointing to the cache? This is a game to hunt Geocaches using common sense, clues and GPS units. My clues to this particular cache is straight forward. Three clues for one cache. 1. Second house on the left. 2. don't get stumped. 3. white 4x4 truck with TB code on the tailgate.
  20. Didn't find it 8/10/2018 I am going to refrain from posting a NEEDS ARCHIVE on this cache but a homeowner was not happy we were searching near his property. If this cache is placed on private property why not give us the house number so that we do not stray on to another persons property. The comment is still there. I try my best to make it a little easier for cachers to find it, since it is supposed to be a park and grab. My GPS coords is right on according to Fizzycalc and the cache icon on the map is dead on. I hate to sound rude but the user has over 21,400 finds and his title is "Lackey" (whatever that means). I'd think he'd be more experienced.
  21. Most of my DNF, I write "No luck today. Will try at another time". or just, "No luck today". I try not to be offensive. I've had one snarky DNF for one of my caches that someone could not find. He said he refrained himself from posting "Needs Archived". because the cache was gone". The cache he couldn't find was the one in my front yard where I can see the hidden spot from my window. Obviously never read the cache page. People have found it since with no problems or very little problems. My Geo partner does not record his DNF because he does not like the blue sad faces on his map.
  22. Never thought about what it would say to new users. I just meant that I don't go out as much as I like to. But I work very long hours, 10am to 10pm. Hopefully these hours will be temporary. At least I am able to check the computer during the slow time. Like now. LOL
  23. False "Found" online logs really does take the fun from the game and defying to purpose of the game by getting outdoors. My logs are embarrassing for the time I joined in '15 till now, with only 106 finds. I am not one to falsify logs just to collect smileys. I always record my DNF for the reason that might tell the co that the cache might have been moved by the last finder or the cache might be stolen. Or I may just be to stupid to find it. As for logs, I do check against my online logs compared to written logs. There were a couple I had suspicions on. Found some did actually sign the log. Found one that hit all four of my caches, plus both of my geo partner's caches in one day including another cache over 100 miles away. He logs on the computer but never signed any of the physical paper logs. I also found where finders signed the paper log but haven't logged it on computer. However, Some finds, signs the paper log, then record it on computer a week or two later. I notice 2 finders did that just this morning.
  24. It's "Out of stock" It will not be published until next week. They probably only had so many for premium before they sold out at $15.20 ea.
