Luckless
Don't premium members get notification when a new cache is published in their area? Do you need a cell phone? Quote Link to comment
+TriciaG
You need to set up notifications. They aren't automatic. http://www.geocaching.com/notify/default.aspx Quote Link to comment
+ChileHead
You don't need a cell phone. When you go to http://www.geocaching.com/notify/ to set them up, you enter an email address. The email address can be your regular email address, or the email address of your phone (format varies by provider.) Quote Link to comment
+HHL
No. You'll have to create notifications.* No. Every email client will receive notification mails. Hans * Go to your profile page. With "Premium Features" you'll find "Set Up Notifications". Edited December 11, 2015 by HHL Quote Link to comment
+Viajero Perdido
A smartphone would get notifications a wee bit quicker (by a few seconds to a few minutes) than a regular computer. That's because of the technology used to deliver email: push notification vs polling at some interval. Quote Link to comment

That's because of the technology used to deliver email: push notification vs polling at some interval. Not all the time. I've been at the computer, phone at my side, when notifications came in. I'd estimate that the computer beat the phone about half the time. I suppose it could depend on the service a person uses. Luckless, you do have to manually set up notifications. Once set up, they're good to go unless something changes such as you phone number or email address. The link posted by TriciaG should help you get it going. Quote Link to comment
+T.D.M.22
You need an email. The email gets sent, after that it's up to your phone provider it's email settings, or internet provider, when it gets to you. You have to set them up as the website doesn't know where you want notifications for, or which types of caches you want them for. Quote Link to comment
