Pork King Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 So, if I wanted a few dummy GPS units (display models), where does one think one could get ahold of a few for reasons? Quote

wmpastor Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 So, if I wanted a few dummy GPS units (display models), where does one think one could get ahold of a few for reasons? What reasons... Answering a question with a question. Sounds like a lawyer or psychiatrist. Why not contact the manufacturer? It would be a waste of time to call stores and ask, "Do you sell dummy GPSrs?" A bookstore might think you want the how-to book "GPS for Dummies" (part of that series). Quote
niraD Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Depending on how realistic you want the dummy GPSr to be, you might be able to print photos of a GPSr, cut them out, and glue them onto a GPSr-sized box. Or maybe you could adapt a tuckbox pattern (designed for printing folding boxes for playing cards) to look like a GPSr. Quote
cerberus1 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 There's always ebay... Found this one in less than a minute. Quote
Mockingbird559 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Can you find a unit that has reached the end of its life, or just try to find a really cheap unit somewhere? Quote
Roman! Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 So, if I wanted a few dummy GPS units (display models), where does one think one could get ahold of a few for reasons? What reasons... Through work I got my hands on some 50 dummy cell phones, they looked and felt like the real thing. For a few months I'd leave them in caches and log my find something along the lines of "in my excitement to find yor cache I may have left my cell phone behind". I got a lot of emails offering to return my phone and had quite a few good laughs so for your question of what reasons, I can think of many. Quote
cheech gang Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 There's always ebay... Found this one in less than a minute. Interesting. I've already used 2 dead GPSs as cache containers in the past. Too bad these ebay ones do not have battery covers. Now back to the original question... Quote
