Dofferson_Katch Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) You take three trips to Sweden without seeing a moose and on your fourth trip one jumps in front of your car (no person or moose got hurt). The three of us, my wife me and the moose, had a huge WTHeck ? moment and as a true geocoin addict the first thing that came to my mind was: "this could be a nice geocoin" ! Back at home i fired up the computer and after a couple of hours came up with the coin above. Description: The front side will be a moose head in black nickel for the outline and the shadow. The highlight parts will be colored in enemal. The backside will have multi layers with a moose that is crossing a road with the text "close encounters of the moose kinds" in the same font as the sciencefiction movie "third kind". The deepest level (road and sky) will be in glow. I think the main edition should be in "moose color" and perhaps different editions with fun colors. Since i am already in the sample state of another coin i am hesitant in starting a new project and i thought i would check to see what the community thinks about this and if there is any interest in a coin like this. Please let me know if you are interested in seeing this coin in production and if you have any suggestion about it. Greetings, Dave Edited July 11, 2013 by Eartha (Removed one letter to remove profanity) Quote
+LadeBear68 Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I don't buy but one or two coins every couple years but I can say I love this coin. Quote
+squishypets Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 That's kinda cool! My dad is a huge moose fan. :-) Quote
+nevadanick Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I'll contact my broker in the AM to assure that I can liquidate some holdings in order to grab a few (when they're ready) ... Quote
+JoenGPS Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I'd be interested... Yep... We likem' and would be in for a couple! Quote
+Laval K-9 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I love moose, I would be interested in getting one and it would be the brown one Quote
+EveryWhichWay Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 We would definitely want a moose color one..... Quote
Dofferson_Katch Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Thank you all for your kind responses ! Reading the reactions i think most people are interested in a coin with a moose color finish. How about "fun colors" like glitters or so ? Next step will be getting quotes from minters to see what it will cost me to get these made. Greetings, Dave Quote
+nessie3d & Ynka Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Like your design!! I like the brown and the red one ... glitter versions ... maybe a black glitter? In 2011 we saw 2 bulls in Sweden at nightfall, hard to see, but they were there in the field, about 20 meters from our car Quote
+usyoopers Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 That is a really nice coin, if you were going to do a glitter I would keep it to a moose color glitter. Quote
+Team_Romeo Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 We'd definitely be interested in a moose coin after having several great encounters with these beasties in Montana and Wyoming. Would prefer the brown moose color, but a glittery moose color would be fun! Quote
Dofferson_Katch Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 Thank you all for your kind feedback ! I am a bit closer in getting this coin produced and will post more about it as soon as things are more certain. I updated the design a bit, after printing the coin in real size on paper it looked to small so i made it about 0.25" bigger. I also added a mid level layer on the front size to allow for different shades of the brown color and a translucent layer whilst keeping the ability to stick to the original design. As a test i added a version with camo colors also :-) Greets, Dave Quote

Dofferson_Katch Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 I'm not sure about the camo'ed moose, kinda looks like he has moss growing on him! Lets call this edition the 'Special Navy Seal Moose' ( the kind that gets dropped behind tourist lines and attacks when you the least expect it) Nah just kidding its just a test to see how it would look like :-) Quote
+nevadanick Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I'm not sure about the camo'ed moose, kinda looks like he has moss growing on him! +1 - still interested in all but the camo design. Quote
+Murazor Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 I'd get a tri-color one. Making one in antique bronze metal with grayish enamels would also be interesting. Quote
+Laval K-9 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I really like the new version with the different shades. No glitter nor camo for me, I want it as natural as it can be I'll take one for myself and one for a friend. Quote

Dofferson_Katch Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Two moose are heading my way ILYM Just curious about the editions you liked and ordered. Personally i love the Melvin (yellow) and the Manfred (Antique Niclel / Olive) editions. The Manfred edition was added at the last moment and turned out to be a real gem ! Quote
+Bartians Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I couldn't decide, so I ordered all of them. Why do you have to make so many pretty ones? I really like the satin silver, satin gold, and camoish looking ones. Quote
+Bartians Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Do you have the mint numbers for the coins, at least the LEs and AE? Got my set last week. Beautiful!! Quote
