+webscouter.
I just noticed a new cache with a very old GC number. The BBC reported on cache GCHQ a puzzle cache with a lifetime salary possibility if you can solve the puzzle. More information is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-15968878 Anyone fancy a go at this one? Quote Link to comment
+webscouter.
and in another post in order to make this thread on topic. Why isn't GCHQ the cache code for Groundspeak Headquarters? The cache is unpublished and would make a great vanity code for headquarters. Quote Link to comment
+jellis
I just sent it to my Facebook seeing if FizzyMagic notices it. Dang said his name again. I know he will be watching this now. Edited December 1, 2011 by jellis Quote Link to comment

Of course archived now. Quote Link to comment

Of course archived now. Many years ago, while working as a systems administrator, I got a frantic call from someone that told me that the web site she was working on got hacked. It seems that for many of the links she was using "xxx" as a placeholder. As it turned out, she had also recently updated her browser (to Netscape 3.0 if I recall) which included a new url resolver that added "http://www." as a prefix and ".com" as a suffix to a string if the string was not a valid url. All of a sudden many of her links started going to a porn site. Quote Link to comment
+Mom-n-Andy
I must be missing something. There does not seem to be a geocache GCHQ. That's the name of an intelligence agency though. Quote Link to comment

I was thinking the same thing.. I don't think this has ANYTHING to do with geocaching at all. Quote Link to comment
+W4G_SOTAGoat
I think the OP saw "GCxx" and assumed it was geocaching. Quote Link to comment
+The Blorenges
I think the OP saw the story, understood it, and then put it up here as a "new puzzle cache" as a bit of a joke. I agree that GCHQ would be much better as the geocache at the Groundspeak offices! MrsB Quote Link to comment
+webscouter.
Yes I did know it wasn't a cache. I posted for three reasons. One, I am so immersed in geocaching that anytime I see GC I think about caching. Two, I think that geocachers would be imminently qualified for this job. Three, I think that GCHQ should be the Cache ID for Groundspeak headquarters, that makes it on topic. Thanks for knowing me MrsB Quote Link to comment

+Chrysalides
Hey, it's not just the British intelligence community that needs puzzle solving help. The CIA needs some too. I'm not sure it's a good idea to announce to the world you can crack their cipher though. You might be offered a job. Alternatively, you might be conveniently disappeared. Not that I have anything to worry about from them. No sir, not me. Dumb as a bag of hammers, I am. I can't even spell GCHQ. Quote Link to comment
