Put a couple hours in on it, ready to place it in the woods.

Hoping it stays muggle free and doesn't go missing.

Applause!! That is going to get you quite a reputation... I hope you can encore!

One issue you are probably going to run into with that is ants. Other bugs, too, but mostly ants. But you should at least get a couple of years out of it. You are going to love the comments you get!

Thanks for the input. Yea i might try dowels next time. This one has a v shape cut due to my inexperience but holds it in place pretty good. And being a pine log hope it will hold up for at least a year or too. The place im eyeing for placement is under a really big tree log that fell in the woods :)

I've got some of these made already and just waiting to hide them. A good wood sealer will keep the ants off and stop the log from checking/cracking/drying out. Not the stuff you put on decks but the stuff you put on floors. The hinge idea works good too on keeping both halfs together. The screw holes need to be sealed too unless the wood is well seasoned or else, as it dries, it shrinks.

Did you cut that on a band saw? Band saws leave the smallest cut and waste the least wood (so both sides match up better). Oh, btw, awesome 1st hide. 2 thumbs up.

I am more impressed that you have an original Weber Genesis grill in Red. Like mine. Got it over 20 years ago. With stainless burners and bars, they last forever. Just keep the wood trays and shelves out of the weather and stain them when needed. A classic.

No i don't have a band saw had to do both sides with a sawzall. Need more tools :)

I was impressed before I read this! Now I'm amazed! Sawsalls aren't that easy to do straight cuts!

Good job!

I have a similar cache (but a different approach) :) I cut the end off a log and used a chain saw to hollow out the long end. Joined with dowels and hard drive magnets (very strong)

I get lots of great comments about it, and I'm sure you will too!
