Two months later, they are still talking about it.

It has only been a couple months since the Nevada Department of Transportation stripped the desert along the Extraterrestrial Highway of its hidden treasures...and they are still talking about it. Many still think it was unwise to remove them.

I don't see what the big deal is all about, next month is May, and they can all be listed as virtuals then.:rolleyes:

That would be great so all you have to do is drive the highway and the speed limit (or higher) and then you can log all the caches. I see new world records.

And don't stop there. Add some new virts on some other highway close. More new records!!

I only see one negative feedback comment on her article and I wonder who that was from. ;)

Well, let's see. One comment said the closure was a socialist agenda of the Senate Majority leader  someone else says the closure was due to Area 51

One the other hand, in addition to the one "negative" comment vis-a-vis liability, there is one "lots of other caches in the area" :) and another "sounds like a complete waste of gasoline" :anitongue:

Let me guess... somebody that disagreed with her and/or with the caches?

You hit the nail on the head with that answer. LOL. What's he win Johnny?

Before you give me my prize, I have to ask... what is "negative" about disagreeing with somebody or the stance they take?

I bet if you look closely at the "negative" post, you'll discover a name affixed to it. No need to wonder.:lol::P

You don't mean to tell me that this whole post has just been a thinly veiled attempt to point the finger at one particular fellow geocacher, do you? I feel so naive! B)

Actually I think those maddest are the businesses. That's why it's still in the paper.

The paper doesn't care about the cachers, but it cares about the businesses in the area (as it should).

If the cachers were really that upset about it you'd think they'd just put their power trail on another road nearby.

All the businesses can do is get the papers to write it up.

NDOT has single-handedly shut down one of the only robust sources of tourism
 "one of the only"?

Aside from that one silly choice of words, it really sounds like a pretty fair news story, as news stories about geocaching go.

Hmmm...does anybody else read Jeremy's Facebook posts?

I don't think so.

???

I guess I'm dense, not sure what your point is. *MY* point is that the ET powertrail may get a second life. Discuss amongst yourselves! :)

My point was sheer silliness about Facebook. Didn't intend to stomp on the point you were trying to make. Sorry.

LOL, I couldn't decide if you were being facetious, but clearly I'm not the only one who reads Facebook!

edit: can't get the linky to work quite right, scroll to mtn-man's post!

Hmmm...does anybody else read Jeremy's Facebook posts? He has one about this topic, and someone (I'm assuming one of the CO's of the ET trail) posted that he is working with NDOT to bring back the power trail.

I hope they do bring it back. I would be looking forward to going back and getting to do it again. Last I read, if they leave them out of the mountain passes, everything will be ok with the snowplows and trucks. When I did them it would of been nice to see a couple of breaks along the way. ;)
