+Ecylram Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I bet she would have come across different if she hadn't DNF'd. Quote
MisterEFQ Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 That was anticlimactic If she would have been looking harder she would have seen the yellow sticker that somebody left there when they stole the cache. Quote
+Panther&Pine Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I don't have audio drivers on this computer, but she looks very excited.... I didn't finish watching the whole thing. Quote
+J the Goat Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 I bet she would have come across different if she hadn't DNF'd. Probably. Maybe she should have scouted the cache first before doing an interest piece on caching. It turns from a pro-caching piece into her total disappointment. Quote
+Ike 13 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Is this for 2 year olds, because she's talking that way. Quote
+Don_J Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Is this for 2 year olds, because she's talking that way. Kim is a trip. She avoided Virtuals because she was afraid of ghosts. I posted to her newsletter, "Don't be afraid of the ghosts" and as a result she found a virtual in the middle of the Colorado River, below Hoover Dam that she had to raft to. Because of the current, if you missed it you would have to pull out and go back where you started to relaunch. She pulled it off. She's got a lot more adventure in her than me. Additionally, she has comprised a database of coordinates for a vast amount of campgrounds and trail heads in the Western States. No more "Hillbilly directions" to find a remote campground. Quote
knowschad Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Watershoes, goggles, and a trusty beach towel! "Creepy algae"? LOL! I just LOVE Saturday Night Live sketches!!! (that is what this was, right? ) Quote
+EscapeFromFlatland Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Epic fail. The little girl should understand that to demonstrate something she should first be successful at it. EatStayPlay? More like CheapScamPay Hopefully someone isn't wasting their money paying her for such a horrible video. "Professional blogging" should probably stay off her resume as long as this video can be traced back to her. Quote

+DragonsWest Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Not a bad amateur effort at video blogging. She might have mentioned whether the cache was a water-tight container with paper log or used a wax pencil to sign it. A little anticlimactic that she didn't check the logs first so knew she might DNF or have to give it a bit more effort to claim the find. Extreme! Going into fish infested waters! Quote
+John in Valley Forge Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Extreme! Going into fish infested waters! Did you see the size of the crayfish in that lake? I've gotten lobsters in restaurants that were smaller. Quote
+Coldgears Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) I love the way she acted like it was so terrible. I would have had fun. Edited November 17, 2010 by Coldgears Quote
+BikeBill Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Well, that video was 4 minutes of my time wasted. Quote
+BaylorGrad Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I couldn't finish watching that. It was like watching Sesame Street for Geocachers. Quote
Clan Riffster Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I guess my definition of extreme and her definition are different. A short swim, in a sedate pond doesn't quite fit my definition of extreme. I didn't even see any alligators! Quote
+The Chaos Crew Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I like Kim, she's a sweetie, I've been following her blog for a while. A lot of it is teaching your granny to suck eggs stuff, even for a relatively inexperienced geocacher like me, but she also has some real fun adventures (like the kayak virtual mentioned earlier on this thread). And she is always (well nearly always!) happy and enthusiastic, which I like in a person. But personally, I probably wouldn't have released this particular video, I'd have waited for an actual find and a slightly more postitive message Quote

Yes, I read that particular blog post, and she pulled it off. She's a nice lady, I occasionally read her blog, she followed me on Twitter, and I followed her back. She's already taken a lot of heat around here for the unfortunate token dropping for free Geocoin thing. An unfortunate end to the video, but c'mon, cut her some slack, at least until you've made your own Geocaching video that's better. I know I haven't. I will jump on the bandwagon and say lose the Tiara though. Edited November 17, 2010 by Mr.Yuck Quote
+Scooter Rider Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Well to each there own. But at lest she had the guts to post a DNF. Quote
knowschad Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I didn't even see any alligators! Those are the ones you've gotta watch out for... NINJAGATORS! Quote
+MoonCatKDT & Peanut Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I think i definitely agree that she should have either scouted it first, or decided on one that was easy enough that she would definitely find. I could have done without the negative comments on the end, but kudos to her for trying one like that!! Quote
