alerts for newly placed caches

Does anyone know if there is a way to be notified when a new cache is placed in your area? I have tried using a pocked query to no avail. Every time I get a report, it shows no new caches. Even though I do find new ones when searching the map. I would like to get a FTF some day. Over 400 finds and no FTF Or do you need to have a iphone or something?

sure can, you set up Notification

Instant Log Notification Feature

 

you will choose "Log type(s): Publish Listing"

you will have to set up a separate notification for each cache type though

 

no need for iPhone, you can get the notifications as SMS to a cell phone if you have one, you just have to figure out what your sms gateway is and enter that number instead of your email, otherwise you get regular emails

There is a new problem with the SMS. When You enter new email address they ask for You to validate the email address. but when you try most phone shorten the email address. That stops You from validating the email. Any way to fix that?

Then I ran out of room for the text message. and did not have the rest of the needed address.

Any idea how to correct this, or a work around?

I forwarded the messages to my home email address, then I pasted it all together with Notepad and used that in my browser to validate. Worked pretty good for me and I'm using a Razor VE20.

I am trying to validate my phone as well. When I try KeokukDiscer's method I get a message on my phone saying "messages with enhanced features can not be sent to email". Anybody have another solution? I have a LG Voyager

I tried that but it wouldn't let me forward it from a text message to an email address. Also I think if it did it still would not help as it does not have the complete web site address.

Does anyone else have any ideas, please?

Just be careful how big a radius around your home you put in.

I wasnt paying attention and put in 100 miles, which led to gazillions of notifications that were way out of my reach. I narrowed it too 20 and now it has led to a couple FTFs for me.
