+Wooden Cyclist
One of my caches is hidden in some murky water in a hollow tee. The container is a small Lock & Lock. You can't see the container in the picture below because it contains a stone that makes it sink. Over the winter the water froze completely solid. The container was encased in ice. I checked on the cache shortly after the spring thaw and found some moisture in the container, but the contents were in good shape and the log was dry in its little baggie. Does anyone else have any examples of containers holding up in extreme conditions? Edited April 20, 2010 by Wooden Cyclist Quote Link to comment

+roziecakes
How very awesome!!! I have found some pretty wet lock and locks lately though... I suppose it has to do with the quality of the lock and lock. What brand did you buy for this particular cache? I want to get some! Quote Link to comment
+nittany dave
I like the Lock & Lock brand but not many of the others that are out there. Lock & Lock's seem to seal and hold up best. There was one other brand that I've heard good things about but I don't recall the name and haven't had any personal experience with it. However, even with the Lock & Lock, I've had a few lately where the locking tabs have broken off after repeated openings over 2+ years out in the elements. Once a tab breaks or even get very worn, it doesn't hold down the lid as tightly. I'll still use them in places where I don't want to place an ammo can, but I think they need to be checked on after being out for awhile. Quote Link to comment

+Knight2000
gross Take that, glass jar! Thanks for the laughs. Now come and clean my screen! Wait until it's partially frozen in and someone tries to get it out. Breakage. They are good containers though. Quote Link to comment
+roziecakes
Well, I'm sold! I hadn't actually purchased a 'lock and lock' brand previously, but I think I'll be getting that and nothing else when it comes to these types of containers from now on. Thank you very much! Quote Link to comment

GPS-Hermit
I like the boxes as well but have trouble finding one of any size - I perfer a shoe box size cache so the great traders can have a ball. Need deep ones. Quote Link to comment

Need deep ones. They come in a wide array of sizes some of which are deep. Take a look. Quote Link to comment
