Is this idea a Puzzle or Multi-Cache, & is it allowed?

I want to place 3 caches in a park, but I want to have the last one be a mystery sort of cache where I place the north coordinates in the first cache & the west coordinates in the 2nd. I'm not sure if that would be a puzzle cache, a multi-cache, or a really bad idea? I figured it would be better to ask before I do it than to find out it's not really a smart thing after I've done it. (Some genius-seeming ideas to this newbie end up being really obvious uh-uh's...but I'm learning)

It's a puzzle, and yes it is allowed.

 

I just got an FTF on a puzzle final like that a couple of weeks ago!

If the other two are listed as separate caches, yes, it is a puzzle.

 

If in the first cache you got half the coords to the third plus coords to the 2nd cache, which in turn contained the 2nd half of the coords to #3, that's a multi.

You can do that with your puzzle if you want. As long as you have it in the cache description of the Puzzle itself that you need to find the others first to get the coords your fine. We have some good puzzles up near us in the Hershey area.

It can be done. The first two caches would be listed as traditional and the final would be a puzzle. You can list bogus coords for the puzzle but the bogus coords should be within 2 miles of the actual cache.

Thanks, I'm very glad to hear that! That means it's time to get out there and find the perfect hiding spots! Thanks also for the other caches to look at...I'd much rather learn these things the easy way than through trial & error! Thanks a ton for the help!

Keep in mind that the .1 mile or 528 foot rule applies to each location; the two traditionals and the final for your puzzle must be greater than that from each other (and all other caches of course).

I like the idea of seperate caches, so people can score three smileys instead of just one for a multi.
