Covering graffiti

Ok so someone wrote a bunch of slurs on a bridge near a cache and I want to take plain old grey spray paint to cover it. I am of legal age to buy spraypaint but is it legal to cover graffiti on public park property or not?

Check with the local city or county/highway offcials. Turn it into a CITO project if you can.

Depending on location, it "could" be illegal. Adding paint over paint is not the solution, and that may well be the illegal point.

 

If a highway bridge, contact the highway authority to have it removed. If a trestle, contact the rail company.

I think you are best off reporting it to whomever owns or manages the property and letting them take care of it.

 

Imagine you're there spraying away and a cop passes by and sees you, spray paint in hand. Won't look good.

Another point to consider is the "OP" of the graffiti. They may not appreciate your efforts. If its gang related you could find yourself in dangerous situation. Sometimes you are much better off reporting it to the proper authorities and letting them handle it.

I appreciate your desire to take action rather than just ignore it. I'd report it to the parks dept too.
