I bought and installed the Garmin TOPO U.S. 24K Northeast DVD less than a month ago. There was no product code included with the package, and none was asked for when I installed it. The maps are now installed and working on both my PC and my Oregon 550t. --Larry Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
From where did you purchase the product? Not a Getting Started issue. Moving to the GPS and Technology forum. Quote Link to comment
+larryc43230
From where did you purchase the product? If you're asking me (hard to tell here ), I bought mine from GPSCity.com. --Larry ETA: I just had a thought; are there any Garmin TOPO 24K DVD products that require a product code? Forkeye
When you first installed it ,did you right away try to unlock it without trying to let it run on its own? The new version of topo Canada does not need to be unlocked and it is newer than topo USA 24k,doesnt sound right to me.My Blue Chart needs to be unlocked, first you need the customer code which was on the packaging, not the cd/dvd case.Just call Garmin about it I dont think they would change it in the middle of a product run. Sorry that I was unclear, Larry. I was asking that of the OP. But I should have specified that better. Quote Link to comment

I sort of figured as much, but I couldn't resist pulling your chain. I still wonder whether there are any Garmin TOPO products that require a product code. There aren't any that I know of. Then again, the OP didn't actually mention Garmin in their question; that makes me wonder whether there are other products by some other company with a similar name. Guess we'll have to wait for further information. --Larry Quote Link to comment
+Redwoods Mtn Biker
I'm trying to recall if the old 24K National Park series was locked. Quote Link to comment
jholly
I'm trying to recall if the old 24K National Park series was locked. They were not locked. Quote Link to comment
n2stitch
Perhaps the OP was referring to National Geographic TOPO! maps. They do require a product key. Lalita Edited February 9, 2010 by n2stitch Quote Link to comment

+g-o-cashers
The USA 24k topo maps are not locked, I just installed the NE DVD a couple of days ago and was surprised to see that I could load them on multiple devices. Quote Link to comment
yogazoo
Just to reiterrate what is being mentioned above. Topo 24k North Central was NOT locked in any way shape or form. The older 24K National Parks was also NOT locked in any way shape or form. Unlimited installations and unlimited units. Quote Link to comment
